All backend timestamps used datetime.now() (server local time) or the
deprecated datetime.utcnow(). The frontend's parseUTCDate() assumes
timestamps without timezone indicators are UTC and appends 'Z', so
stored timestamps were off by the timezone offset when the container's
timezone wasn't UTC.
Backend: replaced datetime.now() and datetime.utcnow() with
datetime.now(timezone.utc) across 16 files (~80 call sites) for all
database fields and DB comparisons. Cosmetic timestamps (filenames,
user-facing local time formatting) intentionally left as local time.
Frontend: replaced 13 new Date(backendTimestamp) calls with
parseUTCDate() across 8 files to correctly interpret UTC timestamps.
Parse the MQTT "fun" field bit 0x20000000 to detect whether connected
printers have Developer LAN Mode enabled. Show a persistent orange
warning banner when any printer lacks it, since newer firmware silently
rejects MQTT write commands without developer mode.
- Parse fun field into developer_mode on PrinterState
- Add /printers/developer-mode-warnings lightweight polling endpoint
- Include developer_mode in printer status API and support bundle
- Orange banner with affected printer names and wiki link
- Translations for all 6 locales (en, de, fr, it, ja, pt-BR)
- 7 backend + 4 frontend tests
P2S firmware sends local slot IDs (0-3) in tray_now, not global tray
IDs, when multiple AMS units are connected. The UI highlighted the
wrong AMS unit (e.g., AMS-A instead of AMS-B). Usage tracking was
unaffected because it uses the MQTT mapping field.
Added disambiguation in _handle_ams_data for single-nozzle printers
with ams_exist_bits indicating >1 AMS: cross-references tray_now with
the MQTT mapping field (snow-encoded) to resolve the correct global
tray ID. Falls back to raw value when no mapping is available or
ambiguous. No behavior change for single-AMS printers or dual-nozzle
(H2D) printers.
When a spool runs empty mid-print and the AMS auto-switches to a backup,
the entire print weight was attributed to the original spool. Track tray
changes during the print via tray_change_log on PrinterState, then split
the 3MF weight across trays using per-layer gcode segment boundaries at
print completion. Falls back to linear layer-ratio splitting when gcode
data is unavailable.
The log sanitizer only used regex patterns, missing arbitrary user-chosen
strings (printer names, usernames). Tasmota smart plug credentials were
logged verbatim in URLs by httpx.
- Make _sanitize_log_content() database-aware: query Printer names/serials,
User usernames, and Bambu Cloud email for exact-string replacement
(longest-first, skip <3 chars to prevent over-redaction)
- Fix serial regex leaking first 3 chars (remove capture group partial
redaction), add case-insensitive flag
- Move Tasmota credentials from URL-embedded (http://user:pass@host) to
httpx auth= parameter so they never appear in logs
- Add URL credentials regex as defense-in-depth for user:pass@ in logs
- Add 'username' and 'path' to settings sensitive_keys filter (catches
smtp_username, slicer_binary_path in support-info.json)
When a spool ran empty during a print and the AMS auto-switched to a
backup, on_ams_change eagerly deleted the SpoolAssignment (fingerprint
mismatch). on_print_complete then queried the now-deleted assignment
and silently dropped usage.
Snapshot all spool assignments into PrintSession at print start. At
completion, prefer the snapshot over live DB queries in both the 3MF
primary path and the AMS remain% delta fallback. Fall back to live
query for backward compatibility with in-flight sessions started
before upgrade.
This allows users sending particularly large prints to slow printers such as the P1-series to start a print and then move onto another task in Bambuddy immediately (such as starting more prints on more printers). It also gives the user visibility into what's happening instead of a loading indicator appearing for an indefinite period of time.
The new toast-based UI uses websockets to update in real time. It will also appear for other users / instances of Bambuddy, not just the user who started the prints, allowing more transparency and handling cases where the user closes the page and then comes back wanting to know the status of the dispatching.
fix: review fixes for background dispatch PR #408
- Restore missing imports in main.py (inventory, print_log, virtual_printers, mqtt_smart_plug_service)
- Guard voidresp() for A1 printers to prevent hang after upload
- Don't fail upload on voidresp() error since data transfer already completed
- Add ams_mapping to register_expected_print calls for Spoolman usage tracking
- Fix cancel_job TOCTOU race by using single lock acquisition
- Fix batch counter reset TOCTOU by re-checking condition inside second lock
- Add backgroundDispatch translations to fr.ts and pt-BR.ts
- Remove dead upload_progress_callback definitions
- Skip redundant "Print queued" toast in reprint mode (dispatch toast handles it)
- 5 backend tests: cancel_job single-lock TOCTOU, batch reset re-check,
job lifecycle
- 2 FTP regression tests: voidresp error handling (upload-loop fix),
A1 model voidresp skip
- 1 frontend test: reprint toast suppression
- CHANGELOG: background dispatch feature + test coverage entries
- README: add background dispatch to Scheduling & Automation
- Website: add feature item to Automation section
- Wiki: add Background Print Dispatch section to print-queue.md
When the snow field hadn't arrived yet, the ams_extruder_map fallback
computed ams_id * 4 + slot for AMS-HT units (128-135), producing
invalid tray IDs like 512+. AMS-HT has a single slot; global ID = unit
ID.
- Single-AMS fallback: return ams_id directly for AMS-HT (128-135)
- Multi-AMS matching: decompose AMS-HT trays correctly (slot=0)
- Multi-AMS narrowing: slot > 0 eliminates AMS-HT candidates
- last_loaded_tray: tighten to valid IDs only (0-15, 128-135, 254)
- Add 10 tests for AMS-HT fallback and last_loaded_tray validation
Multiple Virtual Printers:
- Each VP gets a dedicated bind IP with independent FTP, MQTT, SSDP, and Bind services
- New VirtualPrinter DB model, CRUD API (/api/virtual-printers), React UI
- VirtualPrinterList, VirtualPrinterCard, VirtualPrinterAddDialog components
- Per-instance TLS certificates (shared CA), 11 printer models, all 4 modes
- Auto-incremented serial suffixes, network interface override per VP
Dual Bind/Detect Ports (#445):
- Listen on both ports 3000 and 3002 for slicer bind/detect handshake
- Different BambuStudio/OrcaSlicer versions use different ports
- Applies to BindServer (server mode) and SlicerProxyManager (proxy mode)
- Updated Dockerfile, docker-compose.yml, firewall rules in wiki
Also:
- Rewrote VP test suite for new multi-instance architecture (75 tests)
- Rewritten "How it works" section with 3-step workflow explanation
- Updated all 5 locales (en, de, ja, fr, it)
- Updated wiki and website for multi-VP + dual ports
- New multi-VP screenshot
Recent BambuStudio/OrcaSlicer updates require a bind/detect handshake on
port 3000 before connecting via MQTT/FTP. Without this, slicers cannot
discover or connect to the virtual printer in any mode.
- Add BindServer for server modes (immediate/review/print_queue)
- Add TCPProxy for raw TCP forwarding (proxy mode)
- Update Dockerfile (EXPOSE 3000) and docker-compose.yml (bridge port)
- Add 10 new tests for BindServer protocol and integration
Some printer MQTT brokers (e.g. P1S) reject subscriptions to the request
topic by killing the TCP connection, causing a disconnect loop. The request
topic subscription for ams_mapping capture is now fail-safe with two
detection paths:
- SUBACK rejection: on_subscribe callback detects failure code 0x80
- Broker kills connection: on_disconnect detects disconnect within 10s of
unconfirmed subscription attempt
After detection, the request topic is disabled for that printer and
reconnection succeeds with only the report topic. Printers that support
the request topic (e.g. X1E, H2D) get ams_mapping capture; printers that
don't (e.g. P1S) gracefully degrade to tray_now-based tracking.
Subscribe to the MQTT request topic (device/{serial}/request) to intercept
print commands from any source (BambuStudio, OrcaSlicer, Bambu Handy, or
Bambuddy itself). Captures ams_mapping from project_file commands and passes
it through print start/complete callbacks. Fixes wrong tray attribution on
H2D Pro when prints are started from external slicers.
Suppress SQL/aiosqlite debug noise (~90% log volume reduction), add
caller-traced PRINT COMMAND logging to start_print(), log scheduler
queue checks, tighten stale archive ilike match to exact match, and
warn on multiple queue items in "printing" status. Includes 18 new
unit tests.
Notify users when the print bed cools below a configurable threshold
(default 35°C) after a print finishes, so they know when to remove parts.
- Backend: DB migration, model, schemas, notification template, service
method, background cooldown monitor (polls every 15s, 30min timeout)
- Frontend: event toggle in provider card/modal, threshold setting in

color pre-population, i18n)
- Update PrintersPage for dual external spool rendering
Docs:
- Update CHANGELOG, README, website features, and wiki AMS docs
3MF slicer estimates are now the primary tracking source for ALL spools
(BL and non-BL), with AMS remain% delta as fallback. Per-layer G-code
analysis provides accurate partial usage for failed/cancelled prints.
Fix wrong-spool tracking bug: 3MF slot_id was mapped directly to AMS
tray position, but the printer remaps slicer slots at print time. Now
uses queue ams_mapping for queue prints and tray_now from printer state
for single-filament non-queue prints.
Add filament_grams, filament_details, and progress template variables
to print_complete, print_failed, and print_stopped notification events.
Webhook payloads include per-slot filament breakdown. Per-slot data
stored in archive extra_data during 3MF parsing.
Dual-nozzle H2D/H2D Pro: filament matching now respects nozzle assignments
from the 3MF file. Each AMS unit feeds a specific nozzle (L/R), and the
scheduler/frontend constrain matching to only trays on the correct nozzle.
Falls back to unfiltered matching when no trays exist on the target nozzle.
L/R badges shown in the filament mapping UI. Translated in en/de/ja/it.
Fix AMS slot config overwritten on startup: on_ams_change unconditionally
unlinked BL spool assignments on every MQTT pushall, then re-assigned them
sending ams_filament_setting without setting_id — clearing the printer's
filament preset. Now compares spool RFID identifiers before unlinking.
Fix BL spool detection false positives: removed tray_info_idx from detection
logic in both backend is_bambu_lab_spool() and frontend isBambuLabSpool().
Third-party spools using Bambu generic presets had GF-prefixed tray_info_idx
values, causing misidentification. Now uses only tray_uuid and tag_uid.
SQLite WAL mode with 5s busy timeout reduces "database is locked" errors.
Function-scoped ftp_server meant 67 TLS server start/stop cycles.
Class-scoped reduces to 10. Adds per-test cleanup fixture to reset
failure injections and filesystem between tests. Isolates
test_disconnect_after_server_gone into its own class to prevent
close_all() from nuking other servers' asyncore sockets.
The remote_interface_ip setting only worked in proxy mode but was
completely ignored in server modes (immediate/review/print_queue).
Users with multiple NICs (LAN + Tailscale, Docker bridges) got wrong
auto-detected IP in SSDP broadcasts and TLS certificates.
Implements retry mechanism to handle intermittent network errors when
fetching spools cache for AMS sync operations.
Changes:
- Add retry logic to get_spools() with 3 attempts and 500ms delay
- Configure httpx client with connection pool limits to prevent stale
connection reuse (max_keepalive_connections=5, keepalive_expiry=30s)
- Recreate client on connection errors (ReadError, RemoteProtocolError)
- Abort sync operations if cache fetch fails after all retries
- Update on_ams_change, sync_single_printer, and sync_all_printers to
handle cache fetch failures gracefully
This addresses ReadError(ClosedResourceError()) failures that occurred
intermittently when Spoolman closed idle connections or connection
pooling reused stale connections.
Testing:
- Added 4 new unit tests for retry behavior
- All 1018 tests passing
- Add cached_spools parameter to find_spool_by_tag, find_spools_by_location_prefix, sync_ams_tray, and clear_location_for_removed_spools
- Fetch spools once before loops in on_ams_change, sync_single_printer, and sync_all_printers endpoints
- Cache newly created spools during sync to avoid duplicate API calls
- Add 5 unit tests for caching functionality (all passing)
- Reduce redundant API calls when syncing multiple AMS trays
- Improve sync performance for users with large spool databases
- Maintain backward compatibility with optional cached_spools parameters
Enable Bambu Studio on a remote network to print through BamBuddy
acting as a TLS-terminating proxy for both MQTT and FTP connections.
- Add TLSProxy base class and FTPTLSProxy with PASV response rewriting,
EPSV→PASV translation, PROT P/C tracking, and one-shot data proxies
- Add SlicerProxyManager to coordinate per-slicer MQTT + FTP proxy pairs
- Support additional SAN IPs in certificate generation for proxy mode
- Broadcast SSDP on LAN B so slicers discover the proxy as a printer
- Narrow FTP passive port range to 50000-50100 with retry logic
- Expose proxy ports (8883, 9990, 50000-50100) in Dockerfile
- Document passive port range in docker-compose.yml
FTP bugs have been the #1 recurring issue across releases (0.1.8+).
This adds a real implicit FTPS mock server and 67 test cases covering
every known failure mode — connection, upload, download, delete, storage
info, model-specific SSL behavior, async wrappers, and failure injection.
New files:
- mock_ftp_server.py: implicit FTPS server on pyftpdlib with failure injection
- conftest.py: FTP test fixtures (certs, server, client factory)
- test_bambu_ftp.py: 67 tests across 10 test classes
Also adds pyOpenSSL to requirements-dev.txt (needed by pyftpdlib
TLS_FTPHandler in the Docker test image).
- Remove 28 unused imports across 22 test files
- Prefix 4 unused local variables with _ in app code
(archives, bambu_mqtt, main) and remove 1 dead store
- Consolidate import/import-from in test_plate_detection.py
- Fix unreachable statement in test_archive_service.py
- Simplify redundant comparison in timelapse_processor.py
Resolves ~50 CodeQL py/unused-import, py/unused-local-variable,
py/import-and-import-from, py/unreachable-statement, and
py/redundant-comparison findings.
Replace xml.etree.ElementTree with defusedxml in test files to satisfy
Bandit B314 scanner. While test XML is trusted, using defusedxml
consistently across the codebase prevents CI failures.

Implement accurate per-filament usage tracking for Spoolman integration,
similar to OpenSpoolman v0.3.0. This replaces the previous single-spool
reporting with multi-material aware tracking.
Features:
- Parse G-code from 3MF files at print start to build per-layer,
per-filament cumulative extrusion maps
- Store tracking data in new `active_print_spoolman` database table
(survives server restarts for long prints)
- Report accurate partial usage when prints fail/cancel based on
actual layer progress and G-code data
- Add "Disable AMS Weight Sync" setting to prevent AMS percentage-based
weight estimates from overwriting Spoolman's granular tracking
- Add "Report Partial Usage for Failed Prints" toggle (only shown when
weight sync is disabled)
- Use Spoolman's filament density instead of defaults for mm-to-grams
conversion
- Prefer tray_uuid over tag_uid for spool identification
- SSDP proxy for cross-network setups: select slicer network interface for automatic printer discovery via SSDP relay
- FTP proxy now listens on privileged port 990 (matching Bambu Studio expectations) instead of 9990
- For systemd: requires `AmbientCapabilities=CAP_NET_BIND_SERVICE` capability
- Automatic directory permission checking at startup with clear error messages for Docker/bare metal
Introduces a new "Proxy Mode" for the Virtual Printer that enables
remote printing from anywhere in the world without VPN, port forwarding,
or Bambu Cloud dependency.
Bambuddy acts as a TLS relay between a remote slicer (Bambu Studio/
OrcaSlicer) and the local Bambu Lab printer:
Remote Slicer → Internet → Bambuddy Server → Local Network → Printer
The slicer connects to Bambuddy using the real printer's serial number
and access code. Bambuddy authenticates and relays all FTP (file transfer)
and MQTT (commands/status) traffic with end-to-end TLS encryption.
- No port forwarding required - printer stays safely on local network
- No VPN needed - connect from coffee shops, hotels, work, anywhere
- No Bambu Cloud dependency - fully self-hosted solution
- End-to-end TLS encryption on FTP (port 9990) and MQTT (port 8883)
- Works with Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer
- Uses real printer credentials for authentication
- Automatic printer selection from connected printers
- Add SlicerProxyManager class for TLS relay (tcp_proxy.py)
- TLS termination with auto-generated certificates
- Concurrent FTP and MQTT proxy servers
- Connection lifecycle management with proper cleanup
- Extend VirtualPrinterManager with proxy mode support
- New 'proxy' mode alongside archive/review/queue modes
- Target printer selection and credential management
- Add proxy configuration endpoints to settings API
- Add permission checks for proxy endpoints
- Add Proxy Mode card to Virtual Printer settings
- Target printer dropdown for proxy destination
- Real-time proxy status display (ports, target, running state)
- Full i18n support (English, German)
- Add network architecture diagram
- Add proxy mode section to README
- Add comprehensive guide to wiki
- Add prominent feature section to website
- Backend unit tests for SlicerProxyManager

Closes#207#170
TOTP (Two-Factor Authentication):
- Detect TOTP vs email verification from Bambu API loginType response
- Use dedicated TFA endpoint on bambulab.com (not api.bambulab.com)
- Include browser-like headers to bypass Cloudflare protection
- Extract token from JSON response or cookies
- Frontend shows appropriate messages for each verification type
- Added i18n translations for TOTP UI (en, de, ja)
Closes#182
Track and display who performs key actions in Bambuddy:
- Archives: who uploaded each archive file
- Library: who uploaded each file in File Manager
- Queue: who added each print job to the queue
- Printers: who started the current print (reprint tracking)
Backend changes:
- Add created_by_id column to print_archives, library_files, print_queue tables
- Add database migrations for new columns (auto-run on startup)
- Update archive, library, and queue routes to capture current user
- Add current-print-user endpoint for printer reprint tracking
- Track reprint user in PrinterManager in-memory state
- Fix file uploads not sending auth headers (FormData requires explicit headers)
Frontend changes:
- Display username on archive cards, library files, queue items
- Show "Started by" on printer cards during active prints
- Add auth headers to all 12 FormData upload functions
- Update TypeScript types for user tracking fields
Tests:
- Add unit tests for PrinterManager user tracking methods (7 tests)
