When targeting a specific printer, the scheduler's power-on-wait loop
created new MQTT clients on each attempt. Each new client re-tried the
request topic subscription, which some brokers (e.g. A1) reject by
disconnecting. This caused a 170s thrash loop leaving the connection
fragile, so the eventual print command silently failed to reach the
printer.
Cache request topic support per serial number at the class level so
new client instances inherit the knowledge and skip the subscription.
When a printer shuts down it sends a final MQTT message with
tray_exist_bits=0 and power_on_flag=false. The tray_exist_bits
clearing code processed this all-zero value, wiping every AMS
slot's filament data. On reconnect, the auto-unlink check saw
empty tray data (no color, no type) and deleted all spool
assignments as "fingerprint mismatch".
Fix: skip tray_exist_bits slot clearing when power_on_flag is
false. Defaults to true when absent for backwards compatibility.
Adds 3 regression tests covering shutdown preservation, genuine
removal still working, and missing power_on_flag fallback.
Add a "Rotate spool during drying" checkbox to the manual drying popover
for AMS 2 Pro and AMS-HT units. The firmware-level rotate_tray field was
already sent (hardcoded to false) — this makes it user-configurable.
The checkbox defaults to unchecked and resets each time the popover opens.
Firmware silently disables rotation if filament is currently loaded.
Three interrelated bugs in AMS info field parsing caused AMS units
to appear on the wrong nozzle on H2D dual-nozzle printers:
1. Info field parsed as decimal instead of hex (BambuStudio uses
std::stoull with base 16)
2. Extruder ID extracted as 1-bit instead of 4-bit field (bits 8-11)
3. Partial MQTT updates replaced the full extruder map instead of
merging into it
Parse the MQTT "fun" field bit 0x20000000 to detect whether connected
printers have Developer LAN Mode enabled. Show a persistent orange
warning banner when any printer lacks it, since newer firmware silently
rejects MQTT write commands without developer mode.
- Parse fun field into developer_mode on PrinterState
- Add /printers/developer-mode-warnings lightweight polling endpoint
- Include developer_mode in printer status API and support bundle
- Orange banner with affected printer names and wiki link
- Translations for all 6 locales (en, de, fr, it, ja, pt-BR)
- 7 backend + 4 frontend tests
P2S firmware sends local slot IDs (0-3) in tray_now, not global tray
IDs, when multiple AMS units are connected. The UI highlighted the
wrong AMS unit (e.g., AMS-A instead of AMS-B). Usage tracking was
unaffected because it uses the MQTT mapping field.
Added disambiguation in _handle_ams_data for single-nozzle printers
with ams_exist_bits indicating >1 AMS: cross-references tray_now with
the MQTT mapping field (snow-encoded) to resolve the correct global
tray ID. Falls back to raw value when no mapping is available or
ambiguous. No behavior change for single-AMS printers or dual-nozzle
(H2D) printers.
When a spool runs empty mid-print and the AMS auto-switches to a backup,
the entire print weight was attributed to the original spool. Track tray
changes during the print via tray_change_log on PrinterState, then split
the 3MF weight across trays using per-layer gcode segment boundaries at
print completion. Falls back to linear layer-ratio splitting when gcode
data is unavailable.
When the snow field hadn't arrived yet, the ams_extruder_map fallback
computed ams_id * 4 + slot for AMS-HT units (128-135), producing
invalid tray IDs like 512+. AMS-HT has a single slot; global ID = unit
ID.
- Single-AMS fallback: return ams_id directly for AMS-HT (128-135)
- Multi-AMS matching: decompose AMS-HT trays correctly (slot=0)
- Multi-AMS narrowing: slot > 0 eliminates AMS-HT candidates
- last_loaded_tray: tighten to valid IDs only (0-15, 128-135, 254)
- Add 10 tests for AMS-HT fallback and last_loaded_tray validation
Some printer MQTT brokers (e.g. P1S) reject subscriptions to the request
topic by killing the TCP connection, causing a disconnect loop. The request
topic subscription for ams_mapping capture is now fail-safe with two
detection paths:
- SUBACK rejection: on_subscribe callback detects failure code 0x80
- Broker kills connection: on_disconnect detects disconnect within 10s of
unconfirmed subscription attempt
After detection, the request topic is disabled for that printer and
reconnection succeeds with only the report topic. Printers that support
the request topic (e.g. X1E, H2D) get ams_mapping capture; printers that
don't (e.g. P1S) gracefully degrade to tray_now-based tracking.
Subscribe to the MQTT request topic (device/{serial}/request) to intercept
print commands from any source (BambuStudio, OrcaSlicer, Bambu Handy, or
Bambuddy itself). Captures ams_mapping from project_file commands and passes
it through print start/complete callbacks. Fixes wrong tray attribution on
H2D Pro when prints are started from external slicers.
- Remove 28 unused imports across 22 test files
- Prefix 4 unused local variables with _ in app code
(archives, bambu_mqtt, main) and remove 1 dead store
- Consolidate import/import-from in test_plate_detection.py
- Fix unreachable statement in test_archive_service.py
- Simplify redundant comparison in timelapse_processor.py
Resolves ~50 CodeQL py/unused-import, py/unused-local-variable,
py/import-and-import-from, py/unreachable-statement, and
py/redundant-comparison findings.
When spools were removed from AMS slots, Bambuddy continued showing them
as loaded. Fixed for both old and new AMS models:
- Old AMS: Allow empty values to overwrite slot data during merge
(tray_type, tray_color, tag_uid, etc. were being skipped)
- New AMS (AMS 2 Pro): Parse tray_exist_bits bitmask to detect empty
slots and clear their data accordingly
Added 3 unit tests for AMS data merging behavior.

Problem: xcam data was parsed BEFORE _was_running was set to True, so timelapse detection failed when both arrived in the same message.
Fix: Added timelapse detection at two critical points:
# Lines 1375-1381: When entering RUNNING state
if self.state.state == "RUNNING" and current_file:
if not self._was_running:
if self.state.timelapse:
self._timelapse_during_print = True
logger.info(f"[{self.serial_number}] Timelapse detected when entering RUNNING state")
# Lines 1391-1399: When print start detected
if self.state.timelapse:
self._timelapse_during_print = True
logger.info(f"[{self.serial_number}] Timelapse detected at print start")
2. Callback Error Handling (main.py + printer_manager.py)
Problem: The on_print_complete callback was hanging silently - no logs after "Found archive".
Fixes:
- Added try/except wrapper around "Update archive status" section (line 749-767)
- Added [CALLBACK] log messages at start and end of callback
- Added exception handler to _schedule_async in printer_manager.py to log any exceptions from async callbacks
3. New Integration Tests (test_bambu_mqtt.py)
Added TestRealisticMessageFlow class with 5 new tests that simulate real MQTT message sequences:
1. test_timelapse_detected_at_print_start_in_same_message - The critical race condition test
2. test_timelapse_not_detected_when_disabled
3. test_timelapse_detected_when_enabled_after_print_start
4. test_print_complete_includes_timelapse_flag_full_flow - Full lifecycle test
5. test_print_failed_includes_timelapse_flag
These tests process messages through _process_message() with proper {"print": {...}} wrapping, matching real MQTT flow.
Files Modified:
- backend/app/services/bambu_mqtt.py - Timelapse race condition fix
- backend/app/main.py - Error handling + logging for on_print_complete
- backend/app/services/printer_manager.py - Exception capture in _schedule_async
- backend/tests/unit/services/test_bambu_mqtt.py - New integration tests
Next Steps
You should restart the application to apply these changes. The next print will show:
- [CALLBACK] on_print_complete started for printer X
- [ARCHIVE] Updating archive X status...
- [ENERGY], [PHOTO], [AUTO-OFF] logs (if those features trigger)
- [CALLBACK] on_print_complete finished for printer X, archive X
