When targeting a specific printer, the scheduler's power-on-wait loop
created new MQTT clients on each attempt. Each new client re-tried the
request topic subscription, which some brokers (e.g. A1) reject by
disconnecting. This caused a 170s thrash loop leaving the connection
fragile, so the eventual print command silently failed to reach the
printer.
Cache request topic support per serial number at the class level so
new client instances inherit the knowledge and skip the subscription.
When a printer shuts down it sends a final MQTT message with
tray_exist_bits=0 and power_on_flag=false. The tray_exist_bits
clearing code processed this all-zero value, wiping every AMS
slot's filament data. On reconnect, the auto-unlink check saw
empty tray data (no color, no type) and deleted all spool
assignments as "fingerprint mismatch".
Fix: skip tray_exist_bits slot clearing when power_on_flag is
false. Defaults to true when absent for backwards compatibility.
Adds 3 regression tests covering shutdown preservation, genuine
removal still working, and missing power_on_flag fallback.
Add a "Rotate spool during drying" checkbox to the manual drying popover
for AMS 2 Pro and AMS-HT units. The firmware-level rotate_tray field was
already sent (hardcoded to false) — this makes it user-configurable.
The checkbox defaults to unchecked and resets each time the popover opens.
Firmware silently disables rotation if filament is currently loaded.
Print complete notifications were chained behind the finish photo
capture task with no timeout. If photo capture hung, the notification
would never send. Added a 45-second timeout so notifications always
fire regardless of photo outcome.
Also added diagnostic logging to MQTT state detection and upgraded
notification error logging to include stack traces for easier
debugging.
Queue auto-drying: scheduler automatically starts drying on idle printers
with scheduled queue prints when AMS humidity exceeds the configured
threshold. Uses conservative parameters (lowest temp, longest duration)
for mixed filaments. Drying stops when humidity drops below threshold
(30-minute minimum prevents oscillation), when scheduled items are
removed, or when the feature is disabled. Optional "block queue" mode
delays the next print until drying completes.
Configurable presets: temperature and duration per filament type,
editable in Settings → Print Queue, used by both manual drying popover
and queue auto-drying. Separate presets for AMS 2 Pro (n3f) and AMS-HT
(n3s) reflecting different heating capabilities.
PSU detection: drying button disabled with tooltip when dry_sf_reason
indicates insufficient power. Parses drying status bits and dry_sf_reason
from AMS info hex string via MQTT.
Backend: print_scheduler.py (+316 lines), bambu_mqtt.py, printer_manager,
schemas, settings route. Frontend: PrintersPage drying presets prop,
SettingsPage drying config UI, i18n (7 locales). Tests: 27 new tests in
test_scheduler_auto_drying.py covering conservative params, presets,
state sync, stop logic, minimum drying time, and auto-stop regressions.
Start, monitor, and stop drying sessions for AMS 2 Pro (n3f) and
AMS-HT (n3s) directly from the Printers page. Flame icon in AMS card
header opens a popover with filament-based temperature/duration presets
from BambuStudio. Live countdown status bar shows time remaining.
Backend: cache module_type from MQTT get_version, expose dry_time and
module_type in both WebSocket and REST paths, add supports_drying()
with firmware gating, add server-side guard on start_drying endpoint.
Frontend: drying button, popover with filament select + temp/duration
sliders, status bar, start/stop mutations. i18n for all 7 locales.
Supported: X1/X1C (fw 01.09+), P1P/P1S (fw 01.08+), H2D (fw 01.02.30+),
H2D Pro, X1E. Not supported: P2S, A1, A1 Mini, H2S, H2C.
Three bugs: (1) home_flag bit 18 is set on all printers regardless
of connection type, so every ethernet-capable model showed the badge
even on WiFi. Replaced with wifi_signal heuristic — ethernet printers
with WiFi disabled report a hardcoded -90 dBm sentinel. (2) The lazy
import used `from app.utils.printer_models` which crashes with
ModuleNotFoundError in paho-mqtt's background thread (correct path:
backend.app.utils.printer_models). This killed the thread, causing
all printers to go stale after 60s and disconnect/reconnect in a
loop. (3) WiFi-only models excluded via model-based gating.
home_flag bit 18 is set on all printers regardless of hardware,
causing the ethernet badge to appear on WiFi-only models (A1, P1P,
etc.). The previous fix removed the feature entirely, so ethernet
printers lost their badge too.
Now only trusts bit 18 on models with an ethernet port (X1C, X1E,
P1S, P2S, H2D, H2D Pro, H2C, H2S). WiFi-only models always show
the WiFi signal badge.
Three interrelated bugs in AMS info field parsing caused AMS units
to appear on the wrong nozzle on H2D dual-nozzle printers:
1. Info field parsed as decimal instead of hex (BambuStudio uses
std::stoull with base 16)
2. Extruder ID extracted as 1-bit instead of 4-bit field (bits 8-11)
3. Partial MQTT updates replaced the full extruder map instead of
merging into it
home_flag bit 18 was incorrectly interpreted as "wired/ethernet
connection", causing the ethernet badge to always show — even on
printers without an ethernet port (e.g. A1, P1S). This hid the
WiFi signal indicator entirely.
Removed the wired_network field and ethernet badge UI. The WiFi
signal badge now shows correctly whenever the printer reports
signal strength.

Parse home_flag bit 18 (0x00040000) from MQTT to detect ethernet
connections. When set, the printer card shows a green "Ethernet"
badge with a cable icon instead of WiFi signal strength in dBm.
The printer info modal also displays "Ethernet" instead of WiFi
signal details.
The previous fix only filtered status codes (< 0x4000) from the
print_error field. Firmware can also send the same false positive
through the hms array in MQTT, which had no such filter. Apply the
same < 0x4000 check to the HMS parser so status/phase indicators
are skipped regardless of which MQTT field carries them.
Some firmware sends non-zero print_error values (e.g. 0x03000002 →
0300_0002) during normal printing as status/phase indicators. The
parser treated any non-zero value as a real error, triggering
notifications. All known real errors have codes >= 0x4000 (fatal,
warning, prompt ranges). Now skips print_error values where the
low 16 bits are below 0x4000.
Also fix K-profile greenlet error on auto-created RFID spools by
eagerly setting k_profiles=[] after flush in create_spool_from_tray().
Four support package improvements:
1. Mask first two octets of subnet IPs in support info
(192.168.1.0/24 → x.x.1.0/24) to avoid leaking private network
addresses.
2. Fix Docker network_mode_hint detection. The old heuristic
(interface count > 2) always reported "bridge" on single-NIC
hosts because get_network_interfaces() excludes Docker
interfaces. Now checks for docker0/br-*/veth* visibility via
socket.if_nameindex() — these are only visible in host mode.
3. Parse MQTT "fun" field at top level of payload (not just inside
"print" key). Some firmware versions send it there, which
explains why developer_mode was null for most users.
4. Add virtual_printers section to support info with mode, model,
enabled/running status, and pending file count.
Some firmware versions send MQTT payloads with non-UTF-8 bytes.
UnicodeDecodeError was uncaught, silently dropping the entire message
and leaving printer status as "unknown" with 0°C temps and no AMS.
Fall back to decode(errors="replace") to keep JSON parseable.
All backend timestamps used datetime.now() (server local time) or the
deprecated datetime.utcnow(). The frontend's parseUTCDate() assumes
timestamps without timezone indicators are UTC and appends 'Z', so
stored timestamps were off by the timezone offset when the container's
timezone wasn't UTC.
Backend: replaced datetime.now() and datetime.utcnow() with
datetime.now(timezone.utc) across 16 files (~80 call sites) for all
database fields and DB comparisons. Cosmetic timestamps (filenames,
user-facing local time formatting) intentionally left as local time.
Frontend: replaced 13 new Date(backendTimestamp) calls with
parseUTCDate() across 8 files to correctly interpret UTC timestamps.
H2D firmware reports stg_cur=74 during print preparation, which was
not in the STAGE_NAMES lookup table (sourced from BambuStudio, which
only goes up to 66). This caused "Unknown stage (74)" to display on
the printer card. Also adds stage 77 ("Preparing AMS") which exists
in BambuStudio source but was missing from the lookup.
The MQTT "fun" field is an integer in the JSON payload, but the
parser used int(value, 16) which requires a string. This raised
TypeError on every message, silently swallowed by the except clause,
so developer_mode was never set.
Parse the MQTT "fun" field bit 0x20000000 to detect whether connected
printers have Developer LAN Mode enabled. Show a persistent orange
warning banner when any printer lacks it, since newer firmware silently
rejects MQTT write commands without developer mode.
- Parse fun field into developer_mode on PrinterState
- Add /printers/developer-mode-warnings lightweight polling endpoint
- Include developer_mode in printer status API and support bundle
- Orange banner with affected printer names and wiki link
- Translations for all 6 locales (en, de, fr, it, ja, pt-BR)
- 7 backend + 4 frontend tests
P2S firmware sends local slot IDs (0-3) in tray_now, not global tray
IDs, when multiple AMS units are connected. The UI highlighted the
wrong AMS unit (e.g., AMS-A instead of AMS-B). Usage tracking was
unaffected because it uses the MQTT mapping field.
Added disambiguation in _handle_ams_data for single-nozzle printers
with ams_exist_bits indicating >1 AMS: cross-references tray_now with
the MQTT mapping field (snow-encoded) to resolve the correct global
tray ID. Falls back to raw value when no mapping is available or
ambiguous. No behavior change for single-AMS printers or dual-nozzle
(H2D) printers.
When a spool runs empty mid-print and the AMS auto-switches to a backup,
the entire print weight was attributed to the original spool. Track tray
changes during the print via tray_change_log on PrinterState, then split
the 3MF weight across trays using per-layer gcode segment boundaries at
print completion. Falls back to linear layer-ratio splitting when gcode
data is unavailable.
The MQTT callback thread checked self._pending_kprofile_response before
calling .set(), but the asyncio thread could clear it to None between
the check and the use (TOCTOU race after get_kprofiles() timeout).
Capture the event reference in a local variable to eliminate the race.
When the snow field hadn't arrived yet, the ams_extruder_map fallback
computed ams_id * 4 + slot for AMS-HT units (128-135), producing
invalid tray IDs like 512+. AMS-HT has a single slot; global ID = unit
ID.
- Single-AMS fallback: return ams_id directly for AMS-HT (128-135)
- Multi-AMS matching: decompose AMS-HT trays correctly (slot=0)
- Multi-AMS narrowing: slot > 0 eliminates AMS-HT candidates
- last_loaded_tray: tighten to valid IDs only (0-15, 128-135, 254)
- Add 10 tests for AMS-HT fallback and last_loaded_tray validation
AMS-HT trays (IDs 128-135) are single-slot units, but the snow_slot
computation used `snow_tray % 4 if snow_tray < 128 else -1`, yielding
-1 for AMS HT. This caused a misleading "slot mismatch" debug log on
every MQTT update despite producing the correct tray_now value. Now
returns slot 0 for AMS-HT IDs (128-135), matching the firmware's
tray_now=0 for these single-slot units.
P2S (and X1C) with multiple AMS units incorrectly entered the H2D
dual-nozzle tray_now disambiguation code path, causing warning log
spam. The check `tray_now <= 3` matched any printer loading from
AMS 0. Now uses a persistent `_is_dual_nozzle` flag detected from
device.extruder.info (>= 2 entries), which only dual-nozzle printers
(H2D, H2D Pro) report. Flag is set early in message processing so
it's available before AMS data is parsed.
Some printer MQTT brokers (e.g. P1S) reject subscriptions to the request
topic by killing the TCP connection, causing a disconnect loop. The request
topic subscription for ams_mapping capture is now fail-safe with two
detection paths:
- SUBACK rejection: on_subscribe callback detects failure code 0x80
- Broker kills connection: on_disconnect detects disconnect within 10s of
unconfirmed subscription attempt
After detection, the request topic is disabled for that printer and
reconnection succeeds with only the report topic. Printers that support
the request topic (e.g. X1E, H2D) get ams_mapping capture; printers that
don't (e.g. P1S) gracefully degrade to tray_now-based tracking.
Subscribe to the MQTT request topic (device/{serial}/request) to intercept
print commands from any source (BambuStudio, OrcaSlicer, Bambu Handy, or
Bambuddy itself). Captures ams_mapping from project_file commands and passes
it through print start/complete callbacks. Fixes wrong tray attribution on
H2D Pro when prints are started from external slicers.
Three fixes for inventory spool usage not updating after prints:
1. Store ams_mapping from print command (reprint, library print, queue)
so the usage tracker maps 3MF slots to the actual physical trays
the user selected, not the default slicer mapping.
2. Track last_loaded_tray on printer state — the last valid tray_now
(0-253) seen during printing. On H2D printers, tray_now is always
255 in AMS data; the real tray resolves via snow field ~44s after
print start but reverts to "unloaded" at completion. The fallback
chain is: tray_now_at_start > current tray_now > last_loaded_tray.
3. Use color similarity (Euclidean RGB distance, threshold 50) instead
of exact hex match for auto-unlink fingerprint checks. RFID sensors
report slightly different shades across reads (e.g. distance ~43.6
for the same spool), causing false assignment unlinks after prints.
Add a "Clear Errors" button to the HMS error modal that sends
clean_print_error via MQTT and locally clears hms_errors for
immediate UI feedback. Useful for dismissing stale print_error
values that persist after print cancellation or transient events.
Downgrade 58 diagnostic logger.info calls to logger.debug in
bambu_mqtt.py — payload dumps, detector state changes, field
discovery, H2D disambiguation, and periodic status updates no longer
flood logs at the default INFO level. User-initiated actions (print,
stop, calibration, AMS load/unload) remain at INFO. Also suppress
paho-mqtt library INFO messages in production mode.

Existing code did not allow the MQTT relay to be shut down gracefully.
Moved _client.loop_stop() after _client.disconnect() call to allow
Paho to be notified to disconnect and shut down without reconnecting.
Added _client._disconnection_event to help prevent a race condition where
a disconnection is requested but the loop is immediately stopped.
Modify _client.disconnect() to take a timeout parameter (default: 0).
Wait in that routine for the disconnection event with the given timeout.
Apply same logic to MQTTSmartPlugService and add to shutdown sequence.
Shutdown the MQTT relay last in lifespan() with a hard-coded 2 sec timeout.
The disconnect timeout is also available to printer MQTT clients.
It is left to the default of 0 at this time. If later enabled,
it should be a configuration parameters, especially for large farms.

Three fixes for the H2C nozzle rack reported by testers:
1. Empty slot position: rack nozzles were mapped by sequential array
index instead of by actual nozzle ID (16-21), so a missing slot
always appeared at position 6 instead of its real position. Now
maps each nozzle to its correct rack position via id offset.
2. Missing filament colors/materials: the H2C MQTT payload uses
different field names than H2D — color_m (not filament_colour),
fila_id (not filament_id), sn (not serial_number), tm (not
max_temp). Added fallback field name resolution in the backend
MQTT parser.
3. Medium card layout: the temperature row with nozzle rack overflowed
on medium-sized cards. Added flex-wrap and a 190px flex-basis on
the rack card so it wraps to a second line when space is tight.
AMS-HT global tray ID was calculated as ams_id * 4 (= 512 for unit 128)
but AMS-HT uses the raw ams_id directly since it has a single tray.
The backend misidentified 512 as an external spool, producing wrong
ams_mapping2. Fixed in 4 locations: frontend getGlobalTrayId(), backend
start_print() ams_mapping2 builder, print scheduler, and Spoolman tracking.
- Show all 6 nozzles including mounted: backend includes all nozzle_info
entries (removes id >= 2 filter), frontend filters to non-empty
- Translate nozzle type codes to full names: HS→Hardened Steel, 00/01/05
mapped to Stainless Steel/Hardened Steel/Tungsten Carbide
- Add flow type to hover card: HH→High Flow, HS→Standard
- Show filament material type in hover card (PLA, PETG etc.) from MQTT
tray_type/filament_type field
- Add filament_type to NozzleRackSlot schema (backend + frontend)
- Add translations (en, de, ja, it): nozzleTungstenCarbide, nozzleFlow,
nozzleHighFlow, nozzleStandardFlow
The nozzle_info MQTT array contains L/R nozzle heads (IDs 0, 1) and
rack slots (IDs 16-21). Backend was dumping all entries into nozzle_rack,
and frontend slice(0,6) grabbed L, R, plus only 4 rack slots — cutting
off the last position (e.g. the 0.6mm nozzle) and showing the mounted
nozzle as docked.
Backend: filter nozzle_rack to id >= 2 (rack-only), sort by ID.
Frontend: compact single-row layout with bottom accent bars for
mounted/docked status, wider rack card (flex-[2]), vertically
centered temp cards.
Capture 4 additional fields from MQTT nozzle data (max_temp, serial_number,
filament_color, filament_id) and surface them through REST/WebSocket APIs.
Add per-slot hover popover to the NozzleRackCard showing all metrics, filament
color backgrounds on slots, and i18n labels in all 4 locales.
The H2C printer has a tool-changer with a 6-nozzle rack, but
device.nozzle.info entries beyond index 1 were being dropped due to a
hardcoded 2-nozzle limit. This adds full nozzle rack storage, API
exposure, and a frontend card showing all dock positions.
H2D Pro firmware interprets use_ams as a nozzle index when sent as
integer (1 = deputy nozzle) instead of boolean. Bambu Studio sends
use_ams: true (boolean) while using integers for calibration fields.
Bambuddy was converting all boolean fields to integers for H2D series,
routing filament to the deputy nozzle instead of main, causing
extrusion motor overload at ~75% print completion.
Keep use_ams as boolean for all printers, matching Bambu Studio format.
