The HMS error modal had three compounding bugs that surfaced when a
user forced a wrong-plate HMS (0500_8051) and tried to dispatch the
per-fault actions.
(1) IGNORE_RESUME did not ignore. Bambuddy redirected the action on
state=PAUSE to a plain `resume` command, citing a #1830 verdict that
BambuStudio's "err-bearing shape" was firmware-silently-rejected.
BambuStudio source disagrees: DeviceErrorDialog.cpp:600 dispatches
IGNORE_RESUME via command_hms_ignore, whose wire shape is
{command:"ignore", err:"<decimal>", param:"reserve", job_id:...}.
That's a distinct command from `resume` — the firmware suppresses
the next re-check AND auto-resumes in one operation. Plain resume
means "re-check normally", which is exactly why the wrong-plate
detection re-fired 1-2 s after the user clicked Ignore. The #1830
"err-bearing shape rejected" test almost certainly sent the err as
a hex shortcode; BambuStudio passes std::to_string(int m_error_code)
i.e. the DECIMAL form, which is what the firmware matches against.
(2) Action buttons read as inert badges. The button className used
`hover:${buttonHoverColor}` — a template-literal interpolation
Tailwind's JIT scanner can't see as a literal string, so the
per-severity hover utility never reached the compiled CSS. Same
bg/text color as the severity badge above and no border made it
read as another label. No disabled state and no spinner during the
2.5 s ack wait left clicks sitting silently inert.
(3) Ack-detection 502'd on legitimate ack. The route compared
(gcode_state, hms_errors-len) before vs after publish; wrong-plate
re-pause round-tripped both fields to their pre-publish values
inside the 2.5 s window → false 502 even though the firmware fully
ack'd. PROBLEM_SOLVED_RESUME working but IGNORE_RESUME 502'ing on
the same fault was the same race resolving differently.
Fixes:
bambu_mqtt.py — new hms_ignore_command() publishes the BambuStudio
shape; existing hms_ignore(persistent) renamed to hms_idle_ignore
(unchanged shape, used by NO_REMINDER_NEXT_TIME per
DeviceErrorDialog.cpp:588). Dispatch routes IGNORE_RESUME,
IGNORE_NO_REMINDER_NEXT_TIME, and DONT_REMIND_NEXT_TIME to
hms_ignore_command (BambuStudio routes all three to the same
command_hms_ignore — the "don't remind" half is the firmware's
job). NO_REMINDER_NEXT_TIME stays on hms_idle_ignore type=0. Hex →
decimal err conversion at the helper layer with a defensive
fallback. job_id=None → empty string (matches BambuStudio's
std::string default).
HMSErrorModal.tsx — getSeverityInfo loses the dead buttonHoverColor
field. Action button uses static
`bg-white/10 hover:bg-white/20 active:bg-white/30 text-white
border border-white/20`, wires
`disabled={!hasPermission||mutation.isPending}`, and renders
`<Loader2/>` only on the button whose (action,print_error) matches
mutation.variables.
printers.py — ack-detection probes `client._last_message_time`
(bumped on every MQTT push regardless of payload) rather than
diffing state fields. The pushall that follows every command
guarantees a fresh push lands inside the 2.5 s window on any
healthy printer; only firmware-silent-drop leaves the timestamp
untouched, which is the 502 path #1830 wanted.
Three distinct bugs combined into one user-facing failure: clicking
Stop / Problem-solved-and-resume / Ignore-and-resume returned 200 OK
but the printer didn't act, modal stayed up, print stayed paused.
Verified by injecting candidate command shapes on device/<sn>/request
against a live H2D paused on a wrong-plate HMS (print_error=0x05008051).
(1) hms_resume / hms_stop dispatched the "err"-bearing shape that
BambuStudio doesn't actually send; Bambu firmware silently rejects it.
Both now send the plain shape ({"print":{"command":"<x>","param":"",
"sequence_id":"0"}}). PAUSE -> FAILED in 1.7s for stop, PAUSE -> RUNNING
in <2s for resume.
(2) IGNORE_RESUME mapped to idle_ignore, which is BambuStudio's
"dismiss a warning" command and only works for non-pause warnings.
hms_ignore now branches on state.state == "PAUSE": paused -> plain
resume; not-paused -> idle_ignore with the full-length err.
(3) 64-bit hms[]-array faults were truncated to a non-matching err.
short_code in _parse_status discarded 32 of the 64 identifier bits, so
the firmware didn't match it to the active fault. HMSError.full_code
now carries the canonical hex identifier (16 chars for hms[] faults,
8 chars for print_error faults). Catalog lookup tries 16-char first,
falls back to 8-char. HmsActionBody.print_error pattern relaxed to
^[0-9A-Fa-f]{8}([0-9A-Fa-f]{8})?$.
(4) execute_hms_action returned publish-success as success, masking
every silent-rejection bug above as 200 OK. Route now snapshots
(state.state, len(state.hms_errors)) before dispatch, awaits
HMS_ACTION_ACK_WAIT_SECONDS (default 2.5s, module-level so tests
override), and returns 502 with "Printer did not acknowledge HMS
action within 2.5s" if state didn't move.
GET /api/v1/printers/ and /api/v1/printers/{id} return access_code
only when the caller holds PRINTERS_UPDATE. Adds PrinterResponseWithSecret
as the elevated response shape; PrinterResponse no longer carries the
field. Auth-disabled single-trust mode preserved.
Cover endpoint had no negative cache: when every FTP path returned
550 for a print whose 3MF wasn't on the printer (typical SD-card
print), each frontend refresh re-ran the full 8-path fan-out. Add
_cover_404_cache keyed by (subtask_name, view_key) and short-circuit
to 404 on hit; clear alongside _cover_cache on print start. Only
populated on genuine 404 paths, not transient FTP errors, so flaky
network doesn't lock out future retries.
GitHub update-check had no backoff on 403 rate-limit. Add module-
level _github_rate_limit_until plus three helpers; check before
every api.github.com call in /updates/check and
_discover_target_release. Read X-RateLimit-Reset from the 403 with a
1-hour fallback when the header is absent and a 60-second floor to
guard against container/GitHub clock skew. Route surfaces
retry_after_seconds so the UI can display real wait time.
The "ffmpeg didn't terminate gracefully" line the reporter quoted
is the standard SIGTERM/SIGKILL pattern in camera.py and unrelated
to the FTP loop; it goes away on its own once the cover endpoint
stops hammering the printer.
Several support reports traced back to one root cause: a mistyped access
code in Add Printer left an empty card on the dashboard. POST /printers/
was persisting the row first, then firing connect_printer() fire-and-forget.
Now we test_connection() BEFORE the insert; failure returns HTTP 400 and
the row is never written.
Structured error response -- detail={"code", "message"} -- so the toast
shows the localized message instead of the English fallback. New
ApiError.code field on the frontend; printers.toast.connectionFailedNotAdded
Reported by @1000Delta. The printer file download (and three sibling
endpoints) raised UnicodeEncodeError: 'latin-1' codec can't encode
characters... on any filename outside U+0000..U+00FF (Chinese,
Japanese, Arabic, accented Latin), because the route pushed `filename`
straight into Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="...".
Starlette/uvicorn encodes response headers as latin-1, so the assignment
crashed at write-time.
New backend/app/utils/http.py::build_content_disposition emits both an
ASCII-stripped legacy filename="..." fallback and an RFC 5987
filename*=UTF-8''<percent-encoded> parameter. Every modern browser
prefers the *= form, so the original Unicode filename round-trips
through Save-As intact.
Same shape was latent in three siblings and fixed in the same PR
(no deferred follow-ups): archive QR endpoint (archive.print_name
from 3MF metadata), project ZIP export (project.name — the existing
isalnum() sanitiser passes non-ASCII through), and the PDF label
streamer (latent today, callers ASCII-only but the helper hardens it).

The ams_load_filament / ams_unload_filament MQTT primitives existed
in bambu_mqtt.py but were unused — no HTTP route and no UI. Surface
both as POST /printers/{id}/ams/load?tray_id={int} and
POST /printers/{id}/ams/unload, gated on PRINTERS_CONTROL.
Wire them into the existing AMS slot popover (next to "Re-read RFID")
and add a popover wrapper on the external spool slot which had none.
Hidden while the printer is RUNNING, mirroring the RFID re-read
gating. Both buttons enabled when permission is granted; the printer
no-ops gracefully if there's nothing to do (matches BambuStudio).
Dual-extruder H2D Ext-R support is the trickier piece. The existing
ams_load_filament(254) capture came from a single-extruder printer
and used slot_id=254, curr/tar=-1. Captured the Ext-R command from
BambuStudio fresh: it sends ams_id=255, slot_id=0 (the right
extruder index, NOT a slot index), target=255, and curr/tar = the
actual right-nozzle temp (read from state.temperatures["nozzle_2"],
falling back to 215 °C if cold so the printer doesn't reject the
command on a nonsensical temp). Added that as a new branch in
ams_load_filament; the existing tray_id=254 branch is preserved
verbatim — no risk of regression on single-external setups.
P1S 01.10.00.00 (and similar firmware revisions) only echo the .3mf
filename in print.gcode_file, dropping the Metadata/plate_N.gcode path.
The /cover route's regex falls back to plate 1 — and the printer card
shows the wrong plate's thumbnail on multi-plate prints.
Resolution order in the new resolve_plate_id() helper (used by both
the status route's current_plate_id and /cover):
1. The plate Bambuddy dispatched. start_print() now records
(dispatched_plate_id, dispatched_subtask) on PrinterState; the
subtask check rejects stale records from a previous Bambuddy
dispatch bleeding into a Studio-direct print on the same project.
2. plate_(\d+)\.gcode regex on state.gcode_file (existing behaviour
for firmware that does include the path).
3. After download, scan the 3MF for a unique Metadata/plate_*.gcode —
covers per-plate archives sliced separately in Studio without a
Bambuddy dispatch record.
4. Default to plate 1.
Cover-byte cache key simplified to (subtask_name, view_key) now that
plate resolution is late-bound. clear_cover_cache() already fires on
every print start, so re-dispatches with a different plate always
fetch a fresh thumbnail.
Bambuddy-dispatched prints additionally register the local archive
3MF in the cover cache at dispatch time, so /cover reads straight
from the archive directory and doesn't refetch the file over FTP
from a printer whose FTP server is busy serving the active print.
Coverage: 5 unit tests for resolve_plate_id, 4 unit tests for the
dispatch record on start_print, 2 integration tests for the cover
route (dispatch wins over plate-1 default; 3MF-scan fallback for
per-plate archive without dispatch record).
The FTS routes any AMS slot to either extruder, so AMS info reports
bits 8-11 = 0xE (uninitialized) and ams_extruder_map ends up empty.
The print modal's per-nozzle dropdown filter then hides every loaded
slot, leaving the user with an empty filament dropdown.
Detection: parse print.device.fila_switch from MQTT push_status into a
new FilaSwitchState dataclass on PrinterState; surface it through the
GET /printers/{id}/status response as a nullable FilaSwitchResponse.
Frontend: useFilamentMapping and FilamentMapping skip the per-extruder
filter when fila_switch.installed is true. Slots currently fed into a
track display an [L]/[R] routing badge in the dropdown so the user
can see where the FTS is currently routing them.
Tests: 4 backend unit (TestFilamentTrackSwitchDetection), 2 backend
integration (status route), 2 hook regression, 2 component regression.
Bambu Cloud returns filament_id=null for user presets that only override
fields of a generic base (e.g. "Sting3D ABS" inheriting from
"Generic ABS @BBL H2D"). ConfigureAmsSlotModal fell back to
convertToTrayInfoIdx(base_id), which strips "S" and the version suffix
from "GFSB99_07" to "GFB99" — Generic ABS's filament_id. The printer
accepted and echoed back GFB99, so OrcaSlicer / BambuStudio Sync
Filaments resolved the slot to "Generic ABS" and the custom preset
never appeared on the printer LCD.
The preceding default already set tray_info_idx to the PFUS*/PFSP*
setting_id unchanged, and the rest of the stack round-trips that
format (configure_ams_slot, inventory Assign Spool, and print
scheduler slot-matching on P* short-form IDs). The base_id branch
overwrote the correct default.
Remove the base_id fallback. When cloud detail returns a distinct
filament_id we still prefer it; otherwise the setting_id default
stands. BambuStudio Sync now resolves the custom preset cleanly.
OrcaSlicer falls back to the inherited generic because OrcaSlicer
user-preset JSONs don't carry a filament_id field — that is an
OrcaSlicer limitation and behaviour is strictly not worse than before.
Regression tests (frontend):
- filament_id=null keeps PFUS* as tray_info_idx
- concrete filament_id wins over the default
- GFS* path skips the cloud-detail fetch entirely
- fetch failure degrades gracefully to the PFUS* default
Regression tests (backend):
- test_configure_pfus_preserves_setting_id_pair: HT slot endpoint
forwards both tray_info_idx=PFUS… and setting_id=PFUS… untouched
Thanks to @mrnoisytiger for the browser-console / network / backend-log
data that isolated the fallback path and the OrcaSlicer preset JSON
that showed the missing filament_id field.
Surface four Home Assistant-style controls on the Printers page card:
- SD Card badge in the top status row (green / red, icon-only).
- Enclosure Door badge in the top status row (green / yellow, icon-only).
Detection per printer family — X1/X1C/X1E read home_flag bit 23, all
others read top-level `stat` (hex string) bit 23 — so X1 firmware that
does not flip stat bit 23 stops false-triggering "open". WebSocket
status-change dedup key now includes door_open so toggling the door
alone publishes a push, no 30s REST-poll wait.
- Airduct Mode badge beside the speed control (cooling / heating)
for P2S/H2D/H2C/H2S; one-click dropdown calls the existing
set_airduct MQTT command via a new POST /printers/{id}/airduct-mode
route.
- Force Refresh entry in the kebab menu — calls the existing
/printers/{id}/refresh-status endpoint to request a pushall snapshot
without forcing a reconnect.
Tests: door-open parsing (X1 home_flag, non-X1 stat, ignore mismatched
source, invalid hex) and airduct route (validation, not-connected,
success, failure).
Two bugs caused spool assignments to always configure AMS slots with
generic Bambu filament IDs (e.g. GFB99 "Generic ABS") instead of the
spool's actual slicer preset:
1. PFUS* IDs (cloud-synced custom presets) were blanket-rejected and
replaced with generic IDs in both assign_spool and configure_ams_slot
2. Generic fallback IDs (GFB99, GFL99, etc.) were treated as "good"
presets by the slot-reuse logic, making them sticky once set
New priority: spool's own slicer_filament > slot's non-generic preset
(same material) > generic fallback.
BambuStudio actively resets AMS slots configured with unrecognized PFUS*
(user-local) preset IDs. Replace PFUS* with generic Bambu filament IDs
(e.g. GFL99 for PLA) in both the slot configure and inventory assignment
endpoints. When the slot already has a recognized cloud-synced preset for
the same material, reuse it to preserve K-profile calibration.
Also fix fill level bar not showing for brand new spools (weight_used=0)
by changing the condition from weight_used > 0 to weight_used != null.
Add a "Clear Errors" button to the HMS error modal that sends
clean_print_error via MQTT and locally clears hms_errors for
immediate UI feedback. Useful for dismissing stale print_error
values that persist after print cancellation or transient events.
Users with local DNS can now add printers using hostnames like
printer.local or my-printer.home.lan. Updated backend schema
validation, database column width, frontend form patterns/placeholders,
and i18n labels across all locales. Added integration tests for
hostname and FQDN creation plus invalid hostname rejection.

Track and display who performs key actions in Bambuddy:
- Archives: who uploaded each archive file
- Library: who uploaded each file in File Manager
- Queue: who added each print job to the queue
- Printers: who started the current print (reprint tracking)
Backend changes:
- Add created_by_id column to print_archives, library_files, print_queue tables
- Add database migrations for new columns (auto-run on startup)
- Update archive, library, and queue routes to capture current user
- Add current-print-user endpoint for printer reprint tracking
- Track reprint user in PrinterManager in-memory state
- Fix file uploads not sending auth headers (FormData requires explicit headers)
Frontend changes:
- Display username on archive cards, library files, queue items
- Show "Started by" on printer cards during active prints
- Add auth headers to all 12 FormData upload functions
- Update TypeScript types for user tracking fields
Tests:
- Add unit tests for PrinterManager user tracking methods (7 tests)
- Add integration tests for current-print-user endpoint (3 tests)
- Add integration tests for library file user tracking (3 tests)
Works when authentication is enabled; gracefully hidden when disabled.
Closes#206
Fix Applied:
1. Added supports_chamber_temp() helper function that returns True only for X1/X1C/X1E, P2S, and H2 series
2. Modified printer_state_to_dict() to filter out chamber, chamber_target, chamber_heating from temperatures for unsupported models
3. Added model caching in PrinterManager so we can look up the model without a database query
4. Updated all callers (main.py, websocket.py) to pass the model
The chamber temperature widget will now simply not appear for P1S/P1P/A1/A1Mini printers since the temperatures.chamber field won't be sent to the frontend.
