SpoolBuddy said "Unknown color" under a correctly-coloured swatch for
spools the inventory page names without trouble.
The name was never in the spool record. Bambu's RFID tags frequently
carry no readable colour name -- some carry an internal code instead --
so Bambuddy has always resolved the swatch's own hex against the colour
catalog, and the kiosk was rendering the empty column. Exactly one
SpoolBuddy file already did it right, which is what marks this as an
inconsistency rather than a kiosk simplification.
Route every SpoolBuddy colour-name display through resolveSpoolColorName,
which also stops the spools that do carry a code from showing "A06-D0" at
the user. The write-tag edit form keeps the raw stored value on purpose:
offering a derived name for editing invites the user to save it as though
they had typed it.
Spoolman has no colour-name field at all, so _map_spoolman_spool puts the
spool's subtype there and sets color_name_is_synthesized. That flag now
travels on the tag-matched broadcast, and resolveSpoolColorName takes a
third argument to honour it -- a synthesised name loses to the catalog
and survives only as a last resort. Spoolman installs were reading
"Silk+" as a colour on the Inventory page and the AMS hover card too, so
those call sites pass the flag as well.
Searching by a colour you can read on screen now finds it, in the kiosk
and in Bambuddy: the shared inventory filter matches the resolved name as
well as the stored one. That makes the filter depend on the catalog,
which loads asynchronously, so the three memoised call sites take its
version as a dependency -- without that, a query typed before the catalog
arrives keeps its empty result and reproduces the very symptom being
fixed.
The fallback label was hardcoded English in components that already
import useTranslation; it is now spoolbuddy.spool.unknownColor in all 14
With a switch fitted, an AMS is not wired to a nozzle any more. It is
plumbed into one of the switch's two inlets and reaches both nozzles
through it, so every unit reports its extruder as "not fixed" (0xE) and
ams_extruder_map comes back empty on these machines.
The printer card had nothing to fall back on but the AMS unit number, so
AMS-A was badged R and AMS-B was badged L purely because their unit ids
are 0 and 1, a third unit got no badge at all, and every one of those
labels was wrong. The SpoolBuddy assign modal had the same fallback in a
worse form, mapping anything that was not extruder 1 to R.
The binding turned out to need no new telemetry. BambuStudio reads it out
of bits 24-27 of the same AMS info string we already parse for the AMS
type and the extruder id -- 0 is In-B, 1 is In-A -- and it is only
meaningful when a switch is installed, because without one 0xE really
does mean an uninitialised unit and those bits carry nothing. That gates
the read, which in turn forced the switch block to be parsed before the
AMS block: _handle_ams_data runs early in _process_message and
_update_state only much later, so the binding was lost on every frame
that carried both. _parse_fila_switch is split out and called first, and
left in _update_state as well so that stays a complete absorb step.
The badge keeps L and R rather than A and B, because the lettering is
familiar and matches the physical layout. It is a different colour from
the plain nozzle badge, and its tooltip names the inlet in full, since
the letter is the inlet's position and not a claim about which nozzle
that AMS feeds -- the switch can route either inlet to either outlet. An
AMS still reporting a real extruder id keeps its ordinary badge, which
BambuStudio also treats as authoritative over any switch binding, and a
switch that has been fitted but not yet set up on the printer shows
nothing rather than a guess.
The print dialog's slot dropdown gets the same label. It replaces a
left/right hint that never once rendered: ftsExtruderForSlot compared
snow-encoded in[] values against global tray ids and could not match.
Decoding it correctly would not have saved it -- the firmware reports
which slot sits in each inlet and which nozzle each outlet feeds, but
never which inlet is currently paired with which outlet, so no per-slot
nozzle can be derived. That function is gone rather than fixed.
The dialog also points out when every filament a print needs sits behind
one inlet. Bambu's own guidance is that this is legal but slow: a change
between two filaments on the same inlet retracts the outgoing spool all
the way back to its AMS before the next can be fed up the shared tube,
where a change across the two inlets only retracts as far as the switch.
All on one inlet means every change in the job takes the slow path, and
moving a single spool fixes it. So it advises, it does not block.
Both views update live. Two things were stopping that. fila_switch and
ams_switch_inlet were absent from printer_state_to_dict, and the frontend
shallow-merges each WebSocket push over its cached status, so a field the
push omits keeps whatever the last full fetch left behind. And the
broadcast dedup key had no term for either, so "Join IN-B" on the printer
screen moved nothing: the binding is not in the tray component of that
key, and it is not in the AMS change-hash either, which covers tray
fields only and must stay that way because it drives Spoolman sync.
Assigning an AMS to an inlet remains printer-side. BambuStudio can read
the binding and has no command to write it -- its switch class is parse
and getters only, and the recommended-arrangement popup draws and
publishes nothing -- so there is no wire format for us to copy.
Adding the two fields to PrinterState broke four test modules whose
SimpleNamespace stubs predate them. The stubs are fixed rather than the
production reads made defensive: the real dataclass always carries both,
and a getattr in the dedup key would silently stop tracking the field if
it were ever renamed.
A spool with no readable RFID was reported by the standard AMS with an empty
tray_type and state=9 — structurally identical to a truly-empty slot at the
tray level — so the AMS card rendered it "Empty" while Bambu Studio correctly
showed "?". The authoritative "a spool is physically here" signal is firmware's
AMS-level tray_exist_bits bitmask (what Studio uses), but Bambuddy inferred
emptiness from the per-tray state/tray_type. Confirmed from the reporter's
bundle: tray_exist_bits=f (all four slots present) with tray_is_bbl_bits=5
(only slots 0,2 Bambu) — the present-but-non-Bambu slots were the ones shown
Empty. Supersedes closed#1838.
apply_tray_exist_bits() already parses the bitmask to clear stale fields on
absent slots; it now also annotates each slot with an authoritative `exists`
bool, gated behind a new annotate_exists flag so only the printer-card path
sets it. The VP bridge leaves it off, so the `exists` key never reaches the
slicer wire format. `exists` flows through the AMSTray schema/serialization to
the frontend, where getEmptySlotKind() uses it: exists===true + no tray_type
-> "?" (present, unconfigured), exists===false -> "Empty", exists absent ->
the previous state=9/10 heuristic (AMS-HT and missing-bitmask paths unchanged).
H2D/X1C already reported present-unknown slots with a non-9 state and took the
"?" path; with the fix they reach it via `exists` and are unaffected.
Reporter on a 3-AMS P1S saw slots labelled "Empty" even though spools
were physically loaded - OrcaSlicer's Device view showed the same
slots as loaded.
Root cause: the compact label below the AMS slot circle rendered
tray.tray_type || t('ams.slotEmpty'), falling back to "Empty" whenever
the printer firmware hadn't been told which material is in the slot.
getEmptySlotKind already distinguishes 'physical' (firmware confirmed
empty via state 9/10) from 'reset' (tray_type absent but firmware
hasn't confirmed empty - spool loaded, just unassigned). The hover
card and circle border already used that distinction; the compact
label did not.
Fix: label branches on emptyKind - 'physical' keeps "Empty", 'reset'
shows "?" matching the slicer's own convention. External / VT tray
label is unchanged (external trays have no "configured/unconfigured"
distinction - they're either loaded or not). SpoolBuddy AmsUnitCard
carried the same bug and got the same fix plus a tooltip.
Reporter assigned a spool to a slot whose stored slicer profile differed
from the new spool's, got the Cancel / Assign Anyway popup, and was under
the impression that confirming the popup just linked the spool in
Bambuddy's DB without pushing the new profile to the AMS — i.e. that he
then had to manually open Configure AMS Slot to fix it. The auto-push has
actually been in place since the assign route existed:
backend/app/api/routes/inventory.py::assign_spool calls
apply_spool_to_slot_via_mqtt after upserting the SpoolAssignment row,
which publishes ams_filament_setting + extrusion_cali_sel over MQTT, and
backend/app/api/routes/spoolman_inventory.py::assign_spoolman_slot does
the same for the Spoolman backend. The only short-circuit is when
firmware reports the slot explicitly empty (tray_state in {9, 10}), in
which case main.py::on_ams_change deferred-replays the configure once a
spool appears. So the popup was friction without revealing what it did.
Two changes:
- frontend/src/components/AssignSpoolModal.tsx and
spoolbuddy/AssignToAmsModal.tsx: profile-only mismatch no longer
fires the popup. The condition becomes
`if (materialMatchResult !== 'exact')` instead of
`materialMatchResult !== 'exact' || !profileMatches`. The 'profile'
member is dropped from the mismatchType union and its standalone
branch in each popup render body is removed as dead code. Material
mismatch still warns — Bambu firmware can refuse the print when the
type is wrong.
- Every firing warning (material, partial, material+profile,
partial+profile) now appends one line via a new
inventory.assignReconfigureNote i18n key:
"The AMS slot will be reconfigured to use the spool's profile."
Real translations across all 9 locales per

Reporter wanted to select a transparent filament colour in the spool
editor; CMW-ISS confirmed on v0.2.5b1 that AMS-detected transparent
spools were silently labelled "Black" in the filament-mapping dropdown
because the colour name resolver dropped the alpha byte and the underlying
RGB 000000 HSL-bucketed to "Black". Spoolman already supported 8-digit
hex; the built-in inventory didn't.
Eight collapsing sites fixed together so transparent reaches the user
intact:
- frontend/src/utils/colors.ts: hexToColorName / getColorName /
resolveSpoolColorName / isLightColor short-circuit to "Clear" for
alpha=00 before HSL bucketing or catalog lookup
- frontend/src/utils/amsHelpers.ts::normalizeColor preserves the alpha
byte when alpha < FF (normalizeColorForCompare unchanged so type/colour
matching is unaffected)
- frontend/src/components/spool-form/constants.ts: new
{ name: 'Clear', hex: '00000000' } preset in QUICK_COLORS
- frontend/src/components/spool-form/ColorSection.tsx: hex draft accepts
0-8 chars, commits at 6 (+FF) or 8 verbatim; blur pads 7-char to 8;
selectColor passes 6-char as +FF / 8-char verbatim; isSelected matches
on full rgba; swatch buttons paint a checkerboard for alpha=00
- backend/app/api/routes/printers.py::get_available_filaments preserves
the full rgba on both AMS and vt_tray branches (6-char dedup key
unchanged)
- backend/app/services/spoolman.py::parse_ams_tray drops the silent
00000000 -> F5E6D3FF cream rewrite — the swatch renderer paints a
checkerboard underlay for alpha < FF already (added in #1154), so the
rewrite was hidden technical debt that made every AMS-detected
transparent spool land in inventory as cream
- backend/app/services/spool_tag_matcher.py::create_spool_from_tray
short-circuits the colour-catalog lookup for alpha=00 and stores
color_name="Clear" directly — otherwise an RFID-tagged transparent
Bambu spool would resolve against the #000000 catalog row (or "Black"
via the HSL fallback) before the frontend's resolver ever saw it
- Two shared helpers in utils/colors.ts — getSwatchStyle(rgba) (style
object: checkerboard for alpha=00) and spoolColorString(rgba)
(8-char hex string for SVG fill) — applied to every simple-swatch
site that would otherwise have rendered Clear spools as solid black:
LabelTemplatePickerModal, SpoolBuddyInventoryPage (SpoolCircle + dot),
SpoolBuddyAmsPage (both branches), SpoolBuddyWriteTagPage (4 sites),
ForecastPanel, AssignToAmsModal, AssignSpoolModal (both branches),
InventorySpoolInfoCard, TagDetectedModal, SpoolInfoCard, LinkSpoolModal,
and the FilamentSwatch tooltip title fallback
Intentionally NOT changed: native <input type="color"> keeps 6-char hex
(can't pick alpha; onChange still emits +FF, correct); Spoolman's
_find_or_create_filament strips alpha (Spoolman catalog is 6-char only);
print_scheduler colour matching strips alpha (auto-mapping treats Clear
as Black for slot compatibility); label_renderer prints "#RRGGBB" on the
physical label (printers can't print transparency, swatch fill via
_color_from_hex still honours alpha).
Two bugs surfaced by @flom89 in the same thread:
(1) The Write-Tag page hardcoded api.getSpools and friends regardless of
inventory backend. Users in Spoolman mode saw internal spools they never
created and a successful tag write would have bound the NFC tag to the
wrong backend (the backend write-tag route is mode-aware; the frontend
was driving it with the wrong IDs). Fix follows the InventoryPageRouter
pattern: detect spoolmanMode from getSpoolmanSettings, gate the spool
fetch on spoolmanModeReady to avoid the initial wrong-backend request,
and branch all 6 API call sites (list, autocomplete, untag, K-profile
save, single create, bulk create — the bulk variant returns a different
envelope shape so the duck-typed check from SpoolFormModal is mirrored).
(2) The spool ID was missing from three more SpoolBuddy components
beyond the first round of #1439 work — SpoolInfoCard (the dashboard's
right-side found-tag panel — the "main screen" view the reporter named),
InventorySpoolInfoCard, and SpoolBuddyAmsPage's assigned-spool block.
Same #1385 pattern (#<id> in muted small monospace with shrink-0).

The SpoolBuddy "weigh-then-assign" workflow tried to configure an empty AMS
slot at assign time, but Bambu firmware silently drops ams_filament_setting
and extrusion_cali_sel for unloaded slots — the MQTT calls completed and the
modal closed, yet BambuStudio kept showing the slot as default-PLA forever.
assign_spool now detects an empty target slot (fingerprint_type empty) and
persists the SpoolAssignment without publishing MQTT, returning a new
pending_config flag so the frontend can swap "Assigned!" for "Slot will
configure when you insert the spool." on_ams_change watches for the slot
to load (state == 11, which fires for 3rd-party tags too even when
tray_type stays empty) and replays the deferred ams_filament_setting +
extrusion_cali_sel — including the printer-kp realignment that converts
PFUS-prefix cloud user presets to the P-prefix local-preset filament_id
the slicer actually accepts.
The full assign-time MQTT block was extracted into
apply_spool_to_slot_via_mqtt so both the assign endpoint and the
on_ams_change replay path use the same resolution logic; the helper takes
~270 lines of duplication out of assign_spool.
Adds a finger-friendly amber pill row under the printer status badges
on the SpoolBuddy kiosk dashboard. When any printer reports
awaiting_plate_clear=true, a compact pill appears showing the printer
name plus a "Clear" action; tapping it calls POST /printers/{id}/clear-plate
and optimistically removes the pill before the WebSocket round-trip
lands. Multiple pending printers wrap inline via flex-wrap so the
dashboard stays compact when several finish at once. Pill dimensions
match the existing online/offline printer badges (px-2.5 py-1, text-xs).
The kiosk auth path (X-API-Key) already passes the printers:clear_plate
permission gate via the existing _APIKEY_DENIED_PERMISSIONS denylist
(the permission is intentionally not denied — clear-plate is an
inventory-flow operation, not an admin one), so no auth wiring changes
were needed.
Two adjacent fixes shipped in the same change:
- SpoolBuddyLayout suppresses the global toast viewport while mounted.
The global ToastProvider in App.tsx wraps both the main app and the
kiosk routes, which meant the background-dispatch progress overlay
was rendering on the kiosk display alongside any in-flight prints.
Added setViewportSuppressed(bool) on the toast context; the layout
flips it via useEffect and restores on unmount. State machine and
dispatch-event subscription are untouched — only the visible
viewport is hidden.
- Dispatch toast no longer reads as "frozen at 100%" for fast uploads.
Small files complete FTP in <500ms but the bar would sit at 100%
while the printer's MQTT confirmation landed. When uploadProgressPct
>= 99.9 and status is still 'processing', the byte counter is
replaced with "Awaiting printer..." and the bar gets animate-pulse.
The SpoolBuddy kiosk's "screen blank timeout" setting only painted a
black CSS overlay over the browser window — the HDMI panel's backlight
stayed on indefinitely, wasting power and risking burn-in on
OLED/LED panels.
Move blanking down to the OS layer:
- install.sh now installs swayidle + wlopm + jq and rewrites labwc's
autostart to launch a new spoolbuddy-idle.sh watchdog instead of the
old `wlr-randr --on` keep-alive loop.
- The watchdog sources /opt/bambuddy/spoolbuddy/.env, derives device_id
from the first non-loopback MAC (same algorithm as daemon/config.py),
fetches the configured blank_timeout from the backend once on boot,
and execs `swayidle -w timeout $T 'wlopm --off HDMI-A-1' resume
'wlopm --on HDMI-A-1'`. Touch/keypress wakes via labwc's input event
path. timeout=0 skips swayidle entirely so existing installs that
never picked a timeout keep their current always-on behavior.
- New GET /api/v1/spoolbuddy/devices/{id}/display endpoint returns the
current brightness + blank_timeout. Gated on INVENTORY_UPDATE (same
level the daemon heartbeat key already uses) so existing SpoolBuddy
API keys work without extra permissions.
- SpoolBuddyLayout drops blanked state, the blank timer, activity
listeners, resetActivity, and the CSS overlay. Runtime updates to
the timeout take effect on next kiosk/browser restart; default for
newly-enabled blanking is 300 seconds.
The Printer tab AMS popup and spool auto-provisioner resolved color
names from hardcoded tray_id_name tables with a suffix-code fallback —
and suffix codes like "R1" are not globally unique across material
families. A17-R1 (PLA Translucent Cherry Pink) fell through the
fallback and resolved to "Scarlet Red" (A01-R1, PLA Matte), baking
the wrong name into auto-created inventory spools.
The fix removes the hardcoded tables entirely. Backend resolves color
names via the existing color_catalog table by hex; frontend fetches a
compact {hex: name} map once per session via a new
GET /inventory/colors/map endpoint (auth-gated but not on
inventory:read — read-only views need it too) and stores it in a
ColorCatalogProvider context. A useSyncExternalStore hook cascades a
re-render into pages mounted before the fetch completes so they
refresh from HSL-fallback names once the catalog loads.
Existing auto-provisioned spools keep their stored names; only new
provisioning and live display benefit. Co-Authored-By is intentionally
omitted here per project convention — set it via git config if needed.
Swipe down from the top of the SpoolBuddy display to open a quick-access
menu for toggling printer smart plugs and managing the device (restart
daemon, restart browser, reboot, shutdown). All destructive actions
require confirmation.
Backend: new POST /spoolbuddy/devices/{id}/system/command endpoint
queuing reboot/shutdown/restart_daemon/restart_browser commands.
Daemon: handles commands via subprocess (sudo reboot, systemctl restart).
Frontend: SpoolBuddyQuickMenu component, swipe-down gesture detection,
i18n keys for all 7 locales.

The bottom message bar showed stale warnings from the previous printer
after switching via dropdown or swipe. Cached AMS data was shared across
all printers in a single ref, so switching to a printer whose status
hadn't loaded fell back to the wrong printer's data. The Layout also
unconditionally cleared alerts set by child pages. Fixed by keying the
AMS cache per printer ID and only clearing Layout-owned alerts.
Frontend: replace expensive idle dashboard animations (3x animate-ping
with scale transforms, blur-2xl glow, continuous animate-pulse on
status dots) with static NFC rings and slow 5s color-cycling spool.
Chromium: add --disable-extensions, --disable-background-timer-throttling,
--memory-pressure-off, --disable-renderer-backgrounding, --disable-breakpad,
and --js-flags=--max-old-space-size=128. Install script: mask stripped
services (not just disable) to prevent socket/dbus reactivation; use
/etc/systemd/user/ global overrides for user services instead of
unreliable su-based systemctl --user. Remove chromium/upower from
strip_packages since kiosk reinstalls them immediately.
Chromium: override Debian defaults via /etc/chromium.d/spoolbuddy-kiosk
to disable GPU rasterization, enable low-end device mode, and disable
smooth scrolling/background networking. The system default
--enable-gpu-rasterization conflicted with per-launch flags.
WebSocket: add React Query `select` to SpoolBuddyLayout and
SpoolBuddyDashboard printer status queries so only `connected` is
extracted. Temperature/fan/progress changes no longer trigger
re-renders on every MQTT tick (~10/sec idle).
Services: expand install script to strip pipewire, CUPS, rpcbind,
upower, polkit, accounts-daemon, xdg-desktop-portal, mpris-proxy.
Add user-level service masking for pipewire/portals.
Virtual keyboard now participates in flex layout instead of fixed
overlay, eliminating dead space between content and keyboard. Bottom
nav and status bar hide when keyboard is open. Number inputs (e.g.
Weight field on Write Tag) now accept virtual keyboard input.
New page at /spoolbuddy/inventory with compact 2-column spool card grid,
search bar, material filter chips, sort options, and tap-to-open detail
sheet. Shows Spoolman iframe when Spoolman is enabled. Navigation item
added between Write and Settings in the bottom bar.
CSS rules scoped via data-spoolbuddy-kiosk force the modal panel to
90vh with flex column layout. Content area scrolls, header/footer
pinned. Uses height (not just max-height) so flex-basis auto works
correctly. No flash — CSS applies before paint.
Used a ref callback wrapper in SpoolBuddyAmsPage to directly apply
inline styles (max-height 90vh, flex column, scrollable content) to
the shared AssignSpoolModal DOM elements without modifying the
shared component.
Added data-spoolbuddy-kiosk attribute to the SpoolBuddy layout and
global CSS rules that cap modals at 90vh with scrollable content on
the small touchscreen, without modifying shared components.
Non-passive touchmove listener with preventDefault() blocks Chromium's
compositor-level back/forward swipe gesture. Once horizontal movement
is detected, the gesture is locked and all further touchmove events
are prevented for that swipe. Removed touch-action: pan-y which was
insufficient on its own.
Swiping left/right on the SpoolBuddy touchscreen now cycles through
online printers instead of triggering browser back/forward navigation.
Uses touch-action: pan-y to suppress Chromium's native swipe history
gesture. Auto-navigates to dashboard when a new NFC tag is detected
on any other page, with edge detection so a persistent tag doesn't
block manual navigation. Also wakes the screen if blanked.
Swiping left/right on the SpoolBuddy touchscreen now cycles through
online printers instead of triggering browser navigation. Auto-navigates
to dashboard when a new NFC tag is detected on any other page, with
edge detection so a persistent tag doesn't block manual navigation.
When an NFC tag is first detected while the UI is on a non-dashboard
page, automatically navigate to the main dashboard. Uses edge detection
(previous ref) so a persistently present tag doesn't block navigation
to other pages. Also wakes the screen if the display was blanked.
When an NFC tag is detected while the UI is on a non-dashboard page
(Settings, AMS, Write Tag, Calibration), automatically navigate back
to the main dashboard to display the scanned spool. Also wakes the
screen if the display blank timeout had kicked in.
The AssignToAmsModal was missing all material/profile validation guards
that exist in the main AssignSpoolModal. Clicking an AMS slot now checks
the spool's material and slicer profile against the target slot's current
filament, showing a confirmation dialog on mismatch. Respects the global
disable_filament_warnings setting. Uses existing i18n keys and ConfirmModal.
Some printers (e.g. H2D) only send {id, state} in incremental MQTT
tray updates — no tray_type, tray_color, or other fields. When
filament is unloaded (state changes from 11 to 10), the old tray
data persisted indefinitely because the merge logic only updates
fields present in the incoming message.
Backend:
- Detect tray state != 11 without tray_type in incremental updates
and clear stale tray data (bambu_mqtt.py)
- Expose tray `state` field via REST API and WebSocket broadcasts
(printer.py schema, printers.py route, printer_manager.py)
- Include AMS tray content in WebSocket dedup key so load/unload
transitions trigger broadcasts (main.py)
Frontend:
- Add `state` to AMSTray interface (client.ts)
- Show configure/assign buttons for state=10 (spool present, not
loaded) but hide for state=9 (truly empty) on AMS/HT slots
- Hide fill level bar on empty slots
Tests:
- 5 new tests covering state-based clearing, preservation, reload,
and idempotency
Rewrote update button states: single `busy` flag stays set from click
through to device pickup — no more gap with no feedback. Buttons hide
while any operation is in progress. Listens for spoolbuddy-online
WebSocket event to reload the page after daemon re-registers, ensuring
fresh version and status. Set staleTime to 0 on update check queries.
- Check button now shows spinner on refetch (isFetching vs isLoading)
- Force Update button shows spinner while triggering
- Reduced staleTime from 4 minutes to 30 seconds so the UI picks up
version changes after an update without a long delay
The SpoolBuddy daemon update endpoint fetched GitHub releases and compared
them against device.firmware_version, which always showed "up to date"
because the comparison source was wrong. Now compares directly against
APP_VERSION from the running backend, so a daemon at 0.2.3b1 correctly
sees 0.2.3 as an available update.
The SpoolBuddy layout now auto-checks for daemon updates every 5
minutes and shows "Update available: v{version}" in the status bar.
Removed the beta toggle since SpoolBuddy follows Bambuddy's release
channel. The daemon version is now read from backend APP_VERSION
instead of a stale hardcoded string.
After assigning a spool to an AMS slot, the Bambuddy UI could show the
wrong filament preset (e.g. "Bambu PLA Matte" instead of "Bambu PLA
Silk") even though the printer was configured correctly.
Two bugs:
1. AssignSpoolModal (PrintersPage hover card path) never saved the slot
preset mapping to the DB, so the display fell back to the old/stale
mapping from a previous manual configuration.
2. AssignToAmsModal (SpoolBuddy path) constructed the preset name from
spool.material + spool.subtype ("PLA Silk") instead of using the
authoritative spool.slicer_filament_name ("Bambu PLA Silk").
Fix: the backend now saves the slot preset mapping in assign_spool()
after successful MQTT configuration, using slicer_filament_name as the
display name. This covers both frontend paths and ensures the correct
name is always stored.
When inventory spool assignments had stale weight_used values, the fill
level fallback chain (Spoolman → Inventory → AMS remain) used nullish
coalescing (??), which doesn't fall through on 0. A stale inventory
fill of 0% permanently shadowed the correct real-time AMS remain value.
Viewer users were unaffected because their group lacked the
inventory:view_assignments permission, so the query never fired.
Now when inventory says 0% but AMS hardware reports positive remain,
the inventory value is bypassed in favor of the live AMS data.
Write NTAG213/215/216 tags for third-party spools via the SpoolBuddy
kiosk UI. New "Write" page with three workflows: existing spool, new
spool creation, and tag replacement. Backend encodes 133-byte OpenTag3D
NDEF payloads (material, color, brand, weight, temp). Daemon writes
page-by-page via PN5180 NTAG WRITE command with read-back verification.
Write commands flow through heartbeat polling with WebSocket status
updates. Includes 39 new tests and translations for all 6 languages.
- Add printer status badges to dashboard left column (green/gray
online/offline dots, compact wrapping pills, overflow-hidden)
- Remove SpoolBuddy inventory page — inventory management belongs
in the main Bambuddy frontend, not the kiosk
- Remove inventory nav item from bottom nav (now 3 tabs)
- Replace "Add to Inventory" navigate with quick-add modal that
creates a basic PLA spool entry via API, with a hint to use
the main Bambuddy UI for full spool details instead
- Redesign settings page with tabbed layout (Device, Display, Scale, Updates)
- Add screen blank timeout: blanks after touch inactivity, tap to wake
- Add CSS brightness filter for HDMI displays (no sysfs on HDMI)
- Add backend `language` field to app settings for server-side persistence
- Sync UI language from backend on kiosk load (separate Chromium instance)
- Top bar clock respects user's time format setting (system/12h/24h)
