POST /spoolbuddy/scale/update-spool-weight tried the local DB first
and only fell back to Spoolman on a local miss. Combined with
nfc/tag-scanned's post-#1119 always-Spoolman routing, a stale local
Spool row sharing a numeric id with a Spoolman spool would absorb
the sync silently while the Spoolman row stayed unchanged.
Mirror the routing already used by nfc/tag-scanned: pick the branch
via _get_spoolman_client_or_none() and never cross. Local mode now
returns 404 on a local miss instead of falling through.
New TestUpdateSpoolWeightSpoolman.test_stale_local_row_does_not_shadow_spoolman
asserts both directions: Spoolman gets the update, the colliding
local row's weight_used and last_scale_weight are untouched.

Bambuddy's SSH keypair under <DATA_DIR>/spoolbuddy/ssh/ regenerates whenever
the data dir is recreated (volume remount, container recreate, fresh deploy).
The daemon previously only fetched the pubkey at registration, so any
rotation after a successful boot left ~/.ssh/authorized_keys pointing at
a stale public half — every Update click then failed with "Connection
closed by authenticating user spoolbuddy [preauth]" until the daemon was
restarted by hand. Each prior registration also appended a fresh entry
without pruning, accumulating stale Bambuddy-tagged keys indefinitely.
- HeartbeatResponse now carries ssh_public_key; the heartbeat route reads
it via the same try/except shape as the register route so a missing or
unreadable backend key doesn't break telemetry.
- _deploy_ssh_key() strips lines tagged bambuddy-spoolbuddy and writes
the current key once. No-op when already in sync (no mtime churn on
every heartbeat). User-managed entries are preserved.
- Daemon heartbeat handler calls _deploy_ssh_key when the response
carries a key, so rotations propagate within one heartbeat instead
of requiring a service restart.
Tests: 5 unit (creates-when-missing, replace-stale-pileup, preserve-user-keys,
idempotent, swallows-write-errors) + 2 backend integration (heartbeat carries
the key; backend key-read failure leaves ssh_public_key None but the
heartbeat still 200s).
feat(inventory): replace Spoolman iframe with internal inventory UI
When Spoolman is enabled, the Inventory page now uses the same internal
UI (spool list, create/edit modal, archive, delete, weight sync) backed
by a new proxy layer instead of opening an iframe.
The SpoolBuddy kiosk's "screen blank timeout" setting only painted a
black CSS overlay over the browser window — the HDMI panel's backlight
stayed on indefinitely, wasting power and risking burn-in on
OLED/LED panels.
Move blanking down to the OS layer:
- install.sh now installs swayidle + wlopm + jq and rewrites labwc's
autostart to launch a new spoolbuddy-idle.sh watchdog instead of the
old `wlr-randr --on` keep-alive loop.
- The watchdog sources /opt/bambuddy/spoolbuddy/.env, derives device_id
from the first non-loopback MAC (same algorithm as daemon/config.py),
fetches the configured blank_timeout from the backend once on boot,
and execs `swayidle -w timeout $T 'wlopm --off HDMI-A-1' resume
'wlopm --on HDMI-A-1'`. Touch/keypress wakes via labwc's input event
path. timeout=0 skips swayidle entirely so existing installs that
never picked a timeout keep their current always-on behavior.
- New GET /api/v1/spoolbuddy/devices/{id}/display endpoint returns the
current brightness + blank_timeout. Gated on INVENTORY_UPDATE (same
level the daemon heartbeat key already uses) so existing SpoolBuddy
API keys work without extra permissions.
- SpoolBuddyLayout drops blanked state, the blank timer, activity
listeners, resetActivity, and the CSS overlay. Runtime updates to
the timeout take effect on next kiosk/browser restart; default for
newly-enabled blanking is 300 seconds.
Previously, if a SpoolBuddy daemon crashed during registration it could
end up registered twice. The kiosk UI silently used only the first
device and there was no UI path to remove the orphan — administrators
had to delete the row directly in the database.
Adds a new Settings → SpoolBuddy tab that lists every registered device
with live connection status, system details (firmware, IP, CPU temp,
memory, disk, OS, daemon + system uptime), hardware health flags, and
an Unregister action gated by a confirm modal. A yellow banner appears
whenever more than one device is registered to flag likely crash-
duplicates. Backend adds DELETE /spoolbuddy/devices/{device_id} gated
by inventory:delete and broadcasts spoolbuddy_unregistered over WS so
other tabs refresh immediately.
The tab header shows a device-count pill and a green/gray status bullet
reflecting whether at least one registered device is online. An online
device that is accidentally unregistered re-registers itself on its
next heartbeat. Localized in English, German, and Japanese. The kiosk
layout still uses devices[0] — once the orphan is unregistered, the
remaining device naturally becomes [0].
Swipe down from the top of the SpoolBuddy display to open a quick-access
menu for toggling printer smart plugs and managing the device (restart
daemon, restart browser, reboot, shutdown). All destructive actions
require confirmation.
Backend: new POST /spoolbuddy/devices/{id}/system/command endpoint
queuing reboot/shutdown/restart_daemon/restart_browser commands.
Daemon: handles commands via subprocess (sudo reboot, systemctl restart).
Frontend: SpoolBuddyQuickMenu component, swipe-down gesture detection,
i18n keys for all 7 locales.
The daemon's self-update mechanism (git fetch/reset on its own code) was
fragile: .git permission errors, self-modifying code mid-run, hardcoded
main branch. Bambuddy now SSHes into the SpoolBuddy Pi and drives the
update remotely — matching its own branch, with step-by-step progress
via WebSocket. Install script updated with SSH access, sudoers entry,
and --ssh-pubkey flag for pairing.
Write NTAG213/215/216 tags for third-party spools via the SpoolBuddy
kiosk UI. New "Write" page with three workflows: existing spool, new
spool creation, and tag replacement. Backend encodes 133-byte OpenTag3D
NDEF payloads (material, color, brand, weight, temp). Daemon writes
page-by-page via PN5180 NTAG WRITE command with read-back verification.
Write commands flow through heartbeat polling with WebSocket status
updates. Includes 39 new tests and translations for all 6 languages.
SpoolBuddy's "Link to Spool" used the generic updateSpool API which only
set tag_uid, leaving tag_type and data_origin empty. Now uses linkTagToSpool
with tag_type='generic' and data_origin='nfc_link'.
Added a "Weight Check" inventory column (hidden by default) that compares
each spool's last scale measurement against calculated gross weight with
±50g tolerance. Shows green check for match, yellow warning + sync button
for mismatch. Backend stores last_scale_weight and last_weighed_at on each
spool when weight is synced via SpoolBuddy. Includes edge case handling
when scale weight < core weight. i18n keys added for all 6 locales.
