Print costs covered filament and energy but not the printer. Each printer
can now carry an optional wear cost per printing hour. Every run's wear is
its logged duration at that rate, stored on the print log entry; the
archive keeps the first run's wear, like energy (#1378). Failed and
cancelled runs count, reconciled runs (unknown duration) don't, and a rate
applies to new prints only.
Wear is shown on the archive card, as a hidden sortable Print Log column,
as a Quick Stats tile, in the most expensive record, in project totals and
in batch order cost, and is kept by GitHub backup and restore. Billing
still charges filament only.
New nullable columns: printers.wear_cost_per_hour, print_log_entries.wear_cost
and print_archives.wear_cost.
Projects were flat. The parent_id column and the sub-project list existed
but nothing could set a parent outside the API, and a master project's
stats only ever covered its own prints.
The project dialog gets a parent picker, and a project with sub-projects
gets a second card covering the whole tree -- jobs, parts, time, filament,
cost, and progress against every target in the tree added together. That
card is separate from the project's own stats, which keep their existing
meaning; widening them would have restated the figures of anyone who had
already nested projects over the API. Each listed sub-project carries its
own branch's roll-up, so the rows add up to the card above them.
On the Projects page a sub-project is drawn inside its parent's group
rather than as another card in the grid -- two cards columns apart cannot
show that they belong together, whatever the caption says. A sub-project
whose parent the status filter has hidden stays put and names its parent
instead.
compute_project_stats now goes through the same grouped aggregation as the
roll-up rather than its own copy of the SQL, since the two must agree.
Three things the interface made reachable:
- PATCH refused only a project as its own direct parent, so A -> B -> A
was two calls away. A cycle has no root to roll up to, and the walk
keeps its seen-set for databases that already contain one.
- A sub-project's percentage was completed quantities against the plate
target, disagreeing with the page it linked to.
- Deleting a mid-tree project orphaned its children at top level; they
now move up to its own parent.
Projects made of many distinct files that each need N prints (e.g. 13
plates x 10 sets = 130 prints) only had aggregate progress. Finding out
"how many times have I printed plate_7?" meant reading the Activity
Timeline line by line, unusable at 130 events.
Projects now take an optional Copies per File target. Every printable
file in the project's linked folders shows an X / N badge with a mini
progress bar (gray not started, amber in progress, green done), and the
progress card gains a Complete Sets bar - the minimum per-file count,
i.e. how many finished assemblies can be shipped right now. Without the
target, printable files show a plain printed-count badge.
Counting matches the aggregate project stats: completed runs only,
served by a new /projects/{id}/file-progress endpoint. Runs attribute
to a file via a new library_file_id stamp on queue-dispatched archives,
falling back to content hash and then filename for historical rows.
Also fixed: files queued from a project-linked File Manager folder now
inherit that project, so their prints count toward project statistics -
previously only prints started from the project page were attributed.
Test-harness fix along the way: the test suite's get_db override never
committed, unlike production get_db, so endpoints relying on the
request-scoped commit silently lost their writes in tests. The override
now mirrors production commit/rollback semantics.
The edit dialog is shared between the projects list and the project detail
page and seeds itself from whichever project object it is handed. The list
payload never carried tags, due_date or priority, so editing from the list
showed a blank tags field -- and, unreported, submitted the dialog's default
priority over a stored high/urgent one. The component read those fields
through a cast, so the compiler never flagged that they were always absent.
Put them on ProjectListResponse and ProjectListItem, drop the casts, and let
an explicit null clear tags and due date the way it already clears budget and
url -- an emptied field was previously sent as undefined and silently reverted.
The template list was missing target_parts_count, which the same dialog edits.
Two new project fields: a free-text URL rendered as a one-click
external-link button beside the project name on every card (opens in a
new tab, click is e.stopPropagation()-guarded so it doesn't enter the
project), and a cover photo that replaces the status-icon box with a
square thumbnail.
URL is plumbed through ProjectCreate/Update/Response/ListResponse,
including from-template + create-template flows so it inherits between
a project and its template. Cover photo is not inherited because the
file would be shared on disk between source and copy.
Schema validator rejects anything other than http:// or https://
prefixes -- <a href> rendering would otherwise execute javascript:
/ data: / file: URLs even with React's default escaping. PATCH uses
model_fields_set for the URL field so users can clear it by sending
{"url": null}.
Cover image storage: Project.cover_image_filename references a file
Cover image storage: Project.cover_image_filename references a file
inside the existing archives/projects/{id}/attachments/ dir, but it's
tracked separately from the attachments JSON list so swap/delete on
the cover doesn't perturb the user's other attachments. Three routes
(POST/GET/DELETE /projects/{id}/cover-image) accept only .jpg/.jpeg/
.png/.gif/.webp (no SVG -- SVG can carry script payloads), replace in
place (prior file deleted before the new one lands so repeat uploads
can't accumulate orphans), and self-heal when a DB reference points at
a vanished disk file by clearing the column and 404'ing.
GET cover-image is gated by RequireCameraStreamTokenIfAuthEnabled
(accepts ?token=... query string) -- not the bearer-token gate -- so
<img src> requests work in both auth-on and auth-off configurations.
The frontend wraps getProjectCoverImageUrl with withStreamToken(),
matching the existing pattern from getArchiveThumbnail.
Permissions: PROJECTS_UPDATE for upload/delete/PATCH, PROJECTS_READ
gate is implicit via the stream-token credential. Migration: 2
idempotent ALTER TABLE projects ADD COLUMN. Localised across all 8
UI languages.
