An order produces what it still owes by cloning an existing queue item for
the same plate. That row is the only record of the printer target, AMS
mapping and print options the user chose, so deleting the last one left the
order reporting work outstanding that nothing could produce, and no way to
close it out: Cancel was hidden unless there were pending items to cancel,
which by then there were none.
Deleting an order's last surviving run for a plate now cancels it instead.
A cancelled run does not satisfy a target, so the order still owes the print
and can still make it. A completed run is exempt and still deletes outright
-- rewriting it as cancelled would falsify what the order produced.
Also: the response reports per plate whether anything is left to clone, so
the card explains a stranded plate rather than offering a button that can
only fail; dispatch skips a stranded plate instead of aborting the whole
order; and Cancel is offered for any active order.
The Vortek rack holds six hotends, and a multi-colour plate is sliced to
use a different one per colour so it can skip the purge. Which of the six
each colour takes is not in the 3MF. The same plate, sliced and sent twice
from Bambu Studio with a different choice each time, produces two files
that differ only in rounding in the last digit of a few extrusion figures
-- the filament grouping, the toolchange stream, the 120 nozzle-change
markers and project_settings.config are all identical. The choice travels
only in the dispatched nozzle_mapping.
Bambuddy had no way to state it, so those plates went out with no nozzle
assignment at all and the printer chose for itself. That is what levelled
on one hotend and printed with another, millimetres above the plate.
Every rack-bound filament now carries a position picker beside its AMS
slot dropdown, listing all six with the nozzle each holds. An empty
position, or one holding the wrong diameter or flow type, is shown greyed
out with the reason rather than hidden, so someone looking for position 4
finds it. The choice is per filament *group* rather than per slot, because
a group is one hotend: two filaments the slicer grouped together share it
and cannot point at different positions.
Nothing has to be picked. Positions are assigned automatically, preferring
one already loaded with that colour, which on the plate this was built
against reproduces Bambu Studio's own pick exactly.
A nozzle currently picked up onto the carriage is offered too. The
firmware drops its rack position from the report entirely rather than
sending a placeholder (#943), and refusing it would rule out the position
most likely to be wanted -- the one the last print left mounted. Only
recoverable when exactly one position is missing; two gaps are genuinely
ambiguous and stay unavailable.
Positions are re-checked at dispatch, not just when queued, because the
rack can be re-loaded in between. The two failure modes differ on purpose:
an explicitly chosen position that no longer fits stops the print, names
what the position now holds, and deletes the uploaded file from the SD
card so it cannot be started by hand either -- an operator who named a
hotend must not silently get a different one. An automatic assignment that
cannot be made instead falls back to letting the firmware choose, which is
what happened before any of this existed.
The pick is stored as {group: position} rather than as the expanded
nozzle_mapping, though that is what goes on the wire. That column means
"Bambu Studio decided, forward verbatim", and only the group-and-position
form can be re-checked against what is actually mounted at dispatch.
The existing multi-rack refusal in extract_nozzle_mapping_from_3mf stays.
It still guards the #2800 fallback, which can only ever name one rack id.
Measured on the maintainer's H2C: rack position n is physical nozzle id
15 + n, confirmed by cross-referencing two captured dispatches against
Bambu Studio's own dialog. extruder_max_nozzle_count names which carriage
is the rack straight from the file, and is read rather than assumed -- a
fourth independent confirmation of the carriage indices fixed in 45dc139.
The print dialog is also wider, on every printer. Its filament rows carry
the most horizontal content in it and adding a picker truncated names to
"Bamb...". The column widths themselves only change on a rack machine.
Tests: 44 unit covering the plan, the resolver, the mounted-nozzle
recovery and every refusal; 9 dispatch integration asserting the two real
captures end to end; 7 API round-trip; 33 frontend. The API ones exist
because two integration bugs got through a green suite that tested the
pieces and not the seams -- the group data reached only one of the three
filament-requirements routes, and the field was declared on every schema
except the create one, where Pydantic dropped it in silence.
Printing a multi-plate file in different quantities per plate meant
queueing each plate separately and tracking the counts by hand: one
shared Quantity field cannot say "plate 1 once, plate 2 twice, plate 3
three times". Each selected plate now carries its own quantity, and the
submission becomes an order on a new Batches tab.
The point is the distinction the old flat batch could not express.
print_batch_plates stores how many runs of each plate were wanted,
separately from what was queued, so a run that fails, is cancelled or is
skipped does not satisfy a target -- the order goes on saying it owes a
print instead of quietly under-delivering. Queue remaining re-queues
exactly what is missing, for the whole order or one plate, by cloning
the most recent item for that plate: that inherits the printer or model
target, AMS mapping, filament overrides and print options along with the
validation they already passed, rather than re-serialising twenty fields
through a template that would drift from the model the first time
someone adds a column. Clones append to the end of the relevant
printer's queue and take the same advisory lock the add-to-queue route
does; positions are per-printer sequences, not global.
Cost is measured, not estimated. print_log_entries gains queue_item_id,
set where the queue item is already in scope, so each run's material and
energy are attributed through the item that produced them -- an
unrelated reprint of the same archive never lands in an order's total,
and a multi-plate order gets each plate's own cost rather than the whole
file's via the plate-scoped estimate from #2614. Before any run has
completed there is no honest figure, so cost reads as unknown instead of
a fabricated 0.00.
The Batches tab wires up GET /queue/batches, which has been unreferenced
since the batch MVP shipped, along with six locale keys that were
translated and never used. It is a separate tab because an order
outlives the queue that produced it: once its runs finish they leave the
active queue, so Queue and History each hold half the picture.
completed was not a reachable status before now, so every batch created
since April is still marked active however long ago its last print
finished -- 73 of them on the development install. A startup pass closes
out the finished ones: those whose runs all completed become completed,
and groupings whose items were all cancelled become cancelled, which is
what they are. Not applied to orders, which state their intent
independently of their runs and still owe the work. Only batches with
nothing queued or printing are considered, and repeating the pass also
catches an order whose last run landed while the process was down.
Batches with neither items nor targets are no longer listed at all --
empty shells left when a grouping's items went with their source
archive.
Dispatch applies the same source-file gates as POST /queue/. It creates
queue items, so without them it would be a weaker door to the same
outcome; the archive and library-file checks move into shared helpers
so a third route cannot drift from them.
Selecting several sliced files and pressing Print now creates one queue
item carrying all of them, instead of hiding the Print button the moment
a second file is selected. The printer picker is replaced by the ordered
candidate list, since choosing these files is already the answer to
"which printer" and the only question left is which is preferred.
Per-candidate configuration is the plate only. Model-based assignment
sends no AMS mapping — the printer is unknown until dispatch, where the
scheduler derives it — so a per-candidate mapping editor would collect
choices it then discards. Filament overrides stay shared: "this job
needs PETG" holds for every slice of the same job.
Adds Group as versions for durable grouping, a versions badge counting
the whole group rather than the rows on screen, and a queue card label
naming every model a pending item is waiting on.
Adds /library/variant-groups for declaring that several sliced files are
the same job for different printers, and a variants payload on queue
creation that turns such a set into one queue item with a candidate per
file.
The candidate set is validated as a set: one file per printer model, each
file sliced for the model it is offered as, and at least one model with
an active printer. A cross-model item deliberately holds no file of its
own, because print_queue.library_file_id is ON DELETE CASCADE and would
destroy the whole job when a single alternative is deleted.
Fixes internal printer-model codes never being resolved on queue create
and update: normalize_printer_model returns unknown input unchanged, so
the or-chain never reached the code map and a "C13" target matched no
printer and waited forever.
Skips candidates whose file is trashed or missing. Library deletes are
soft, and SQLite runs with PRAGMA foreign_keys off, so neither case is
covered by the schema; the hard-delete paths now also drop the rows.
Adds library_files.variant_target_model so a user can say which printer
a file without slicer metadata is for, kept out of file_metadata so the
assertion is never mistaken for parsed data.
Every field that takes a chamber target stopped at 60: the per-filament
chamber map and per-print override in Preheat & Heat Soak, the chamber
quick-select presets, and the printer-card chamber control. 60 is the
X1E's ceiling and the X1E was the only heated-chamber model when that
limit was written; the H2 series and X2D heat to 65, so the top of their
range was unreachable.
The ceiling now lives in one constant per side (MAX_CHAMBER_TEMP_C in
backend/app/utils/printer_models.py and frontend/src/utils/printer.ts)
rather than as a literal at each call site. X1E firmware clamps a higher
request to its own maximum, so a shared ceiling is safe.
Also fixes a live bug at PrintersPage.tsx:7985: parsePresetTriple was
bounded to 60 there, and it rejects the whole triple on any out-of-range
entry, so a saved 65 preset would have silently reverted the printer
card to the defaults while Settings still showed 65.
Round-3 review of the "Save AMS mapping" PR.
The queue item's ams_mapping was set unconditionally, on the reasoning that
honouring the slicer's own pick is a correctness fix rather than a feature.
It is both. Storing a resolved mapping makes _ensure_ams_mapping return
early, so _compute_ams_mapping_for_printer never runs — and that function is
where prefer_lowest_filament lives, along with the AMS-filament-backup gate
that qualifies it (#1766), the inventory-remain overrides, and the per-slot
force-colour overrides. Every existing queue-mode VP pointed at a printer
would have quietly lost all of it on upgrade, without a setting to turn it
back on.
So save_ams_mapping now gates the queue item too, not just the archive
persistence. Off is exactly the old behaviour. The correctness case the PR
was written for — two spools of the same red PLA, and the slot the user
picked in the slicer thrown away — is still fixed, for anyone who asks for
it.
Force color match wins over it when both are on. Its only effect on a
fixed-printer item is the filament_overrides written onto the queue item,
and those are read inside the function a stored mapping skips, so the two
toggles sitting next to each other on the same card silently cancelled. The
dispatch now matches strictly, as asked, while the slicer's pick is still
saved onto the archive — that is what the toggle's name promises, and a
later reprint is a separate decision from this print. The queue-add fallback
applies the same rule to a request that carries force-colour overrides.
A mapping shorter than a plate's highest slot id cannot address that plate's
own slots, and _ensure_ams_mapping would have kept it anyway, since it only
rejects an all-unresolved one. Each plate now checks the length it needs and
falls back to a computed mapping if the array does not reach. Bambu Studio
sends a file-global array, so this normally never fires; it also means a
multi-plate Send All degrades safely if that ever stops being true.
The badges claimed more than they delivered. Both rendered whenever a saved
mapping existed, ignoring which printer it belonged to, while the tooltips
promised the reprint would reuse those exact spools — true only on the
printer the trays were resolved against. The queue row's flag is now
computed against that row's own printer, which is precisely when dispatch
reuses the mapping, and the archive card names the printer instead of
implying any of them will do. It hides itself when that printer no longer
exists. Retranslated in all 13 locales.
Frontend tests, which the PR had none of. The printer-scoping rule is now a
pure function rather than an inline expression, covered for the mismatched
printer, the no-printer-selected case that would otherwise compare undefined
against undefined, and malformed extra_data. The toggle's undo bookkeeping
is covered for unresolved slots, short mappings, and hand-made picks —
preserved when the toggle never wrote that slot, replaced when it did, which
is behaviour worth pinning either way.
Also reverts all three queue-mode switches when a save fails, not just the
new one; without it the card shows a setting the server rejected.
Lets a reprint reuse the AMS slot the slicer itself picked, instead of
re-deriving one from the file's static type/color.
When a Print Queue VP has "Save AMS mapping" on, the slicer's own
live-resolved ams_mapping (from the project_file MQTT command) is
persisted onto the archive as extra_data.slicer_ams_mapping. A later
reprint can reuse it via a new "Mapping" button in the filament-mapping
panel — one click snaps every slot to the saved pick, click again
reverts to auto-match. Archive cards and queue rows get an "AMS mapping
saved" badge so it's visible beforehand. add_to_queue also falls back
to the saved mapping automatically when the caller sends no explicit
ams_mapping (e.g. a plain reprint with no per-slot edits).
The queue item's own ams_mapping (used for that dispatch) is still
captured unconditionally whenever the slicer provides it — that part is
a correctness fix, not gated behind the toggle. Only the archive
persistence for future reprints is opt-in.
Split out from the original combined PR per review: this half is
genuinely opt-in and low-risk (#2684). The dispatch-time validation
gate that keeps a stored mapping honest (#1308) changes behaviour for
every existing user and will land as its own PR.
Review fixes applied:
- _extract_slicer_ams_mapping_json: dropped the unreachable `v is None`
arm and rejected bool explicitly (isinstance(v, int) accepts bool).
- Translated the Russian docstring text to English.
- save_ams_mapping's model comment moved to a trailing comment on the
column line, matching the file's convention.
- usingArchiveMapping now resets when the plate or archive changes, so
the Mapping button can't read ON against a mapping it never applied.
- Translated "Click to change slot assignment" and "Re-read".
- add_to_queue's fallback is now called out explicitly in code comments
and covered by three new integration tests (fallback fires, explicit
mapping wins, unrelated extra_data doesn't false-trigger).
Closes#2684
Bed levelling, flow calibration, and nozzle-offset calibration were on/off
only, so the sole way to run bed levelling was to force a full level before
every print. Bambu Studio has always offered a third "Auto" state that lets
the printer skip the calibration when it was done recently -- the state most
users actually want. Make these three options tri-state (off/on/auto),
defaulting to auto, and leave vibration/layer-inspect/timelapse as on/off
(Bambu Studio exposes no auto for those).
Wire encoding follows Bambu Studio's source exactly: each option sends a JSON
bool (true only for "on") plus a companion int -- off=0, on=1, auto=2. The
bool fields stay booleans (the #1478 H2S regression); only the companion int
widened from {0,1} to {0,1,2}. #1721's observation that stage 8/39 stays
queued when sending 2 is the auto contract (queued, skipped at runtime if
recent), not a broken "off".
- schemas: TriState = Literal[off/on/auto] with a BeforeValidator coercing
legacy bool / 0-1 / true-false so old clients and un-migrated rows validate
- model + migration: boolean columns -> String; SQLite via column affinity +
data backfill, PostgreSQL via ALTER COLUMN TYPE guarded on information_schema
(verified on both dialects); settings rows normalised true/false -> on/off
- MQTT: start_print takes the tri-state strings and emits the paired bool+int
- Virtual Printer: reconstructs the slicer's auto/on/off from the int companion
(auto_bed_leveling / extrude_cali_flag) in both capture paths
- frontend: CalibrationMode type; off/auto/on segmented controls in the print
dialog, queue bulk-edit, and Settings -> Workflow; calibrationMode_* strings
in all 11 locales
New scheduler stage that heats the bed (and the chamber, on supported
printers) and holds at temperature before each queued print starts —
the heat-soak engineering filaments need for adhesion and warp
control. Bambuddy waits between FTP upload and start_print, so the
soak runs while the printer is otherwise idle. M191 is silently
ignored by Bambu firmware, so doing this at the orchestration layer
is the only place it works.
Resolution order at dispatch:
1. PrintQueueItem.preheat_override ∈ {inherit, on, off}.
'off' skips entirely; 'inherit' falls back to the global
preheat_enabled toggle; 'on' forces the stage even when the
global is off.
2. chamber_target = item.preheat_chamber_target_override
?? max(filament_map[normalize(t.tray_type)] for loaded slots)
?? 0.
Mixed PA+PLA picks PA's 50 (max-across-slots — PA's chamber
requirement is binding, PLA doesn't suffer being warm). PLA-only
derives 0 and skips the chamber phase automatically.
3. Three hardware tiers for chamber heat:
- Active chamber heater (H2C/H2D/H2D Pro/H2S/X2D/X1E) → M141 +
chamber-sensor wait
- Chamber sensor only (X1C/P2S) → no M141, passive bed-radiation
wait with hard max-wait cap
- No chamber sensor (P1S/P1P/A1/A1 Mini) → bed + soak timer only
4. Airduct flap (H2C/H2D/H2D Pro/H2S/X2D/P2S) auto-switches to
match the chamber target — heating mode for engineering
filaments, cooling mode for PLA. Bambu firmware does NOT
auto-switch the flap with M141, so without this an ABS print
on a previously-cooling flap fights the open exhaust, and a
PLA print on a previously-hot flap recirculates ABS heat.
Idempotent: only fires set_airduct_mode when current ≠ desired.
Settings → Workflow → Queue & Dispatch → Preheat & Heat Soak card:
master enable toggle (default off — disabled installs see no change),
per-filament chamber-target editor (replaces a single global int that
shipped in the first cut and couldn't serve PA + PLA in the same
config), preheat_max_wait_seconds, preheat_soak_seconds. The Print
Options panel in PrintModal gets a Preheat sub-section with the
tri-state Inherit/On/Off control and an optional chamber-target
override input.
DB migration: PrintQueueItem gains preheat_override VARCHAR(10)
DEFAULT 'inherit' and preheat_chamber_target_override INTEGER NULL.
Idempotent via _safe_execute. Existing rows behave exactly as before
the migration.
Best-effort throughout: printer drops, refused M141 or set_airduct,
missing bed temp, lost MQTT state mid-wait all log and return cleanly.
Normal upload + start path runs after this returns regardless.
Three issues from the post-merge audit of the unified-dispatch PR, all
pre-existed on dev but became more impactful once every print routes
through the queue:
1. Start/Stop ownership gates. /queue/{id}/stop required QUEUE_UPDATE_ALL
(admin-only) -- operators saw the Stop button in the queue UI but got
403 on click. /queue/{id}/start required QUEUE_UPDATE_OWN with no
ownership check -- _OWN holders could start anyone's queue items via
direct API. Both routes now use require_ownership_permission, mirroring
/cancel. Stop is strict (rejects unowned items for _OWN); start preserves
#1670's VP-import flow where _OWN can start NULL-owner items and claim
ownership at click-time. Frontend QueuePage Start/Stop buttons flip
from printers:control to canModify('queue', 'update', created_by_id).
2. TOCTOU race on insert_position. Concurrent ASAP inserts to the same
scope both computed MAX(position) from before the other committed; in
an empty scope, both inserted at position=1 (duplicate). Wraps the
read+update in a transaction-scoped Postgres pg_advisory_xact_lock
keyed on the printer_id. Different printers don't contend. SQLite
serializes writes implicitly so the path is no-op there. Dialect is
checked against the live session binding, not the is_sqlite() helper,
because the test fixture overrides get_db to SQLite while
settings.database_url still points at Postgres.
3. /reorder duplicate-position validator. POST /queue/reorder set position
from the payload in a loop with no uniqueness validation -- a buggy
drag-drop client could leave the queue with ambiguous ordering (the
scheduler's ORDER BY (printer_id, position) ties break by row order).
New model_validator on PrintQueueReorder rejects duplicates at the
schema layer with 422 + "Duplicate positions in reorder request: [N, ...]".
- Introduced cost center permissions in permissions.py.
- Added finance-related fields and models in archive.py, finance.py, library.py, print_queue.py, and settings.py.
- Implemented database migrations for cost centers and wallet transactions in database.py.
First-attempt fix (d196cfc5) was wrong about the cause. Real root,
traced via @mkoreen's BAMBUDDY_VP_DUMP_WIRE capture + 2026-06-21
support bundle:
mqtt_server.py:1296 was passing the slicer's bare subtask_name
(e.g. "Model_Name") into on_print_command, which stashed under
that key. _add_to_print_queue looked up under file_path.name
(the FTP filename WITH extension, "Model_Name.gcode.3mf"). The
two strings never matched. pop returned None, the 2s wait fired
against a key the stash side never signaled, every captured
slicer field silently fell back to settings defaults.
Affected EVERY Bambu Studio "Send" upload across EVERY model —
not just H2C nozzle_mapping. bed_leveling / flow_cali /
vibration_cali / layer_inspect / timelapse from the original
#1403 capture have been silently ignored since BambuStudio
started splitting subtask_name (bare) from file (with extension).
Unit tests passed because fixtures called on_print_command with
file_path.name directly, bypassing the broken caller.
Fix in manager.py::on_print_command: derive
stash_key = data.get("file") or filename and use it for both
_slicer_print_options and the event lookup. filename
(subtask_name) still flows unchanged to _schedule_finish_release
— push_status echoes it back as gcode_file / subtask_name and
the slicer matches against its own subtask_name there, so
re-routing that path was a separate regression I caught and
reverted mid-audit.
Also: nozzles_info field was a wrong guess in d196cfc5 —
BambuStudio never sends it (confirmed via wire capture). Drop
the capture, dispatch, schema, kwarg, and route paths. DB
column stays nullable so old rows still load; nothing reads
or writes it.
Diagnostic: DEBUG log when _add_to_print_queue finds no slicer
options after the 2s wait, including the looked-up key and the
actual cache keys present. Future stash/lookup mismatches will
be obvious from a log line instead of needing a wire capture.
Behaviour change worth flagging: users on Bambu Studio whose
slicer-side bed-leveling / flow-cali / vibration-cali /
layer-inspect / timelapse differ from Bambuddy's
default-workflow settings will see their slicer choices
honored now instead of silently overridden. Restores #1403's
original intent.
BambuStudio's project_file MQTT command for O1C2 (the H2C dual-
nozzle-rack variant) carries nozzle_mapping (per-filament physical
nozzle position IDs) and nozzles_info (per-extruder rack metadata).
The VP intake was dropping both, so the H2C firmware fell back to
"last matching nozzle type" auto-pick and ignored the user's
slicer choice — every HF print landed on R2, every standard print
landed on R4.
Carry both fields through the VP intake → queue item → MQTT
dispatch path. New nullable TEXT columns on print_queue, non-
branched ALTER (matches ams_mapping / filament_overrides
precedent). Dual-nozzle gate at start_print() keeps the fields
off single-nozzle dispatches. Fail-open on malformed JSON —
firmware auto-picks, never worse than pre-fix.
Stamps both fields on every plate in the multi-plate Send All
loop (#1697 / #1188 precedent).
ams_mapping2 still handles H2D/X2D dual-extruder routing
unchanged; this fix is scoped to the O1C2 rack-swap mechanism.
Restructures the queue page around three tabs (Queue / History / Timeline)
and adds first-class batch grouping plus a real time-based timeline.
Queue tab
- Layout toggle: Sort by Position (flat list) or Group by Printer (per-
printer section cards with aggregate count / time / weight headers).
- Batch grouping: pending items sharing a batch_id render as a single
collapsible row with aggregate stats; children draggable within the
batch only. Per-batch collapse state in localStorage.
- Multi-drag: dragging any selected row moves all selected items as a
contiguous block via DragOverlay (+N ghost).
- Selection bar gains a Group as batch action when 2+ ungrouped items
are selected. Ungroup lives on the batch parent row.
History tab
- Two-line rich rows: filament color swatch + weight + type, user
attribution, inline error message on failed / skipped rows.
- Responsive 1 / 2 / 3 column grid so a long history uses available
width instead of stretching one row per line.
- Batch siblings group into a collapsible parent with status-rollup
chips (3 OK / 1 failed / etc).
- Thumbnail hover preview shows the full image at 192x192 next to the
small thumb.
Timeline tab
- Replaces the hourly-list view with a Gantt swimlane: one row per
printer (plus per target_model and unassigned), horizontal hour
axis, jobs as bars positioned by start time and sized by duration.
- Live NOW marker.
- Only committed schedules are rendered: currently printing items,
pending items with scheduled_time, and pending ASAP behind an active
print. Staged (manual_start), waiting (waiting_reason), and ASAP
jobs on idle printers are filtered out.
- 24h rolling window with 12h step controls.
- Per-bar tooltip with start, end, progress, batch name.
Backend
- POST /queue/batches creates a batch, optionally assigning existing
pending item_ids (manual grouping) or returning an empty batch the
client can attach to subsequent /queue/ POSTs.
- POST /queue/batches/{id}/ungroup clears batch_id from all members
(skipping items the caller does not own) and deletes the batch row
when no members remain.
- POST /queue/ accepts an optional batch_id and validates that the
batch exists, is active, and the caller may modify it. The existing
quantity > 1 auto-batch path still fires when no batch_id is sent.
PrintModal
- When N plates from one source are queued in a single submission
(model assignment or single printer), the modal pre-creates a batch
and passes its id to each addToQueue call so multi-plate jobs land
grouped automatically. Falls back to ungrouped items if the batch
pre-create fails.
When the user clicked Print Anyway on a filament-deficit warning, the
acknowledgement was one-shot. The route cleared manual_start and
filament_short, then the next scheduler tick re-ran
compute_deficit_for_queue_item against identical spool state, found
the same deficit, and re-set both flags. The item bounced between
"user said anyway" and "scheduler re-blocked" — every Play click
returned 409, every confirm got rolled back on the next tick.
Add a persistent acknowledgement flag on the queue item:
- New column `skip_filament_check` on print_queue. SQLite + Postgres
migration branched on is_sqlite() so Postgres doesn't reject
DEFAULT 0 on BOOLEAN.
- PrintQueueItemCreate + PrintQueueItemResponse schemas + the
TypeScript types carry the field.
- POST /print-queue/{id}/start with skip_filament_check=true now
ALSO sets item.skip_filament_check = True (not just clearing
manual_start / filament_short).
- PrintScheduler._block_on_filament_deficit short-circuits to
False — no compute, no flag-setting, no notification — when
item.skip_filament_check is True. We trust the operator's
decision and stop fighting them.
- PrintModal at queue-creation time threads
skip_filament_check=true into the create payload when the user
clicks Print Anyway on the frontend deficit warning, so a print
that was warned-then-acknowledged at add-to-queue time goes in
pre-acknowledged — scheduler never blocks it on first tick.
Flag is not auto-cleared on spool swap by design: if remaining is
now sufficient, the check returns no deficit anyway, so the flag
is moot. Auto-clearing would add lifecycle complexity without
changing behaviour.
AMS Backup awareness (the other half of the discussion) intentionally
NOT included — verified the H2D's bit-26 of print.cfg toggles with
the printer-side AMS Backup setting, but the X1C's cfg has a
different shape entirely and verifying every model family isn't
realistic. Silently under-warning would be worse than always
per-slot. The check stays single-slot for now.
Reporter on a multi-printer farm with 40+-plate runs needed to walk to
the printer with the right physical plate, but the queue and the
scheduling modal didn't surface curr_bed_type the way the archive card
already did.
New utils/threemf_tools.extract_bed_type_from_3mf helper (per-plate) so
both the queue API and the /plates endpoint can return per-plate values.
PrintQueueItemResponse.bed_type populated from archive.bed_type /
library_file.file_metadata['bed_type'] as the default, then overridden
per-plate via the helper when item.plate_id is set. /archives/{id}/plates
(and library equivalent) include bed_type in each plate object.
Per-plate accuracy matters because archive.bed_type is captured at
ingest as only the first plate's value (services/archive.py:235) -
a 40-plate 3MF mixing PEI + Engineering returns PEI at the archive
level for every plate. The helper re-reads the 3MF and returns the
truth.
Frontend: queue card meta row + PlateSelector per-plate row + PrintModal
header all render bed icon + canonical label via the existing
getBedTypeInfo() helper, same as the archive card.
Bambuddy's project_file MQTT payload hardcoded "nozzle_offset_cali": 2 (skip),
giving users on H2D / H2D Pro / H2C / X2D no way to control the same toggle
BambuStudio exposes. Critical for diamond-nozzle setups that must keep the
calibration off.
start_print() now takes a nozzle_offset_cali kwarg; the value is encoded as
1 (run) or 2 (skip) and gated on is_dual_nozzle so single-nozzle machines
always send 2 even if a stale flag arrives. The kwarg threads through
printer_manager, both background_dispatch sites, and print_scheduler so
every dispatch path respects the per-item setting.
print_queue gains a nozzle_offset_cali column (DEFAULT TRUE, is_sqlite()
branch for Postgres BOOLEAN). Settings default key default_nozzle_offset_cali
defaults to TRUE to match BambuStudio. Schemas updated across print_queue,
library FilePrintRequest, archive ReprintRequest, settings.
PrintModal renders the new toggle only when the selected printer is dual-
nozzle (printer-mode: nozzle_count===2; model-mode: DUAL_NOZZLE_MODELS).
SettingsPage default-print-options row + QueuePage bulk-edit tri-state both
hide unless any registered printer is dual-nozzle. Labels reuse the existing
settings.default* keys so the only new i18n strings are
settings.defaultNozzleOffsetCali / Desc and queue.bulkEdit.nozzleOffsetCali
- real translations in all 11 locales.
The pre-print deficit warning from #720 only ran inside the PrintModal
submit flow. Both the green ▶ button on a staged queue row (POST
/queue/{id}/start) and the Virtual Printer queue-mode intake bypassed
it — auto_dispatch=True VP intakes would dispatch unsupervised onto
spools that physically can't complete the print.
Extracted the deficit check into backend/app/services/filament_deficit.py
(single source of truth, both internal inventory and Spoolman modes).
POST /queue/{id}/start returns 409 with a structured deficit payload
unless ?skip_filament_check=true. The dispatch scheduler runs the same
check before each _start_print; a deficit promotes the item to
manual_start + sets a new filament_short flag (idempotent migration on
print_queue). The flag clears automatically on the next tick when the
operator swaps a spool to one with enough material.
Frontend ▶ catches the 409 and opens a confirm modal showing each
shorted slot's required vs remaining grams; the row now renders a
yellow "Insufficient filament" badge when filament_short is set.
Translated across all 9 locales.
Opening the Print Queue page fired 404s on /archives/{id}/thumbnail,
/archives/{id}/plates, and /archives/{id}/plate-thumbnail/{n} for any
row pointing at a soft-deleted archive. Two underlying problems wearing
one mask:
1. Cosmetic: the queue API was copying item.archive.thumbnail_path into
archive_thumbnail without checking deleted_at. Soft-delete leaves the
row (so the relationship resolves) but removes the file from disk, so
the cached path was always stale.
2. Functional: a queue item whose 3MF was removed can never dispatch.
Without an explicit cancel, the item sits in 'pending' forever with
no indication to the user about why nothing is printing.
Fix in three parts:
- New _cancel_pending_queue_items() helper, called from soft_delete_archive
alongside the existing print-log thumbnail cleanup. Sets status='cancelled'
+ waiting_reason='Source archive deleted' on every pending queue item
linked to the archive. Only 'pending' is touched - completed/failed/
cancelled rows are historical and untouched. Hard-delete is already
covered by ON DELETE CASCADE on print_queue.archive_id.
- Queue API serializer now checks item.archive.deleted_at before
populating any archive-derived field. New archive_deleted: bool field
on PrintQueueItemResponse signals the soft-deleted state.
- Frontend's getArchivePlates query in QueuePage was gated on archive_id
only - archive_id is the real FK and stays exposed for dispatch/audit,
so added an explicit && !item.archive_deleted clause to respect the
new flag. Thumbnail render and CompactHistoryRow/QueueTimelineView
already gate on archive_thumbnail so the backend suppression alone
covers them.
Regression tests pin cancel-only-pending behavior, soft-deleted
suppression + archive_deleted=True flag, and the sanity guard that
live-archive fields keep flowing through unchanged.
* feat: print files directly from project view (closes#930)
Show printable files from linked library folders directly in the project
detail page, with Print Now and Add to Queue buttons per file. Removes
the detour through the File Manager for common reprint workflows.
Per-model start/end G-code snippets configurable in Settings (Workflow
tab). Queue items get "Inject G-code" toggle — scheduler injects
snippets into a temp 3MF copy before FTP upload. Supports Farmloop,
SwapMod, AutoClear, Printflow 3D and similar bed-clearing systems.
Original files are never modified.
New SJF toggle badge on the queue page. When enabled, the scheduler
picks shorter print jobs before longer ones instead of FIFO. A
starvation guard flags jobs that get skipped once, moving them to
the front on the next cycle so long jobs can't be postponed indefinitely.
- Add print_time_seconds and been_jumped columns to PrintQueueItem
- Cache print duration from 3MF metadata at queue item creation
- SJF query: printer_id, target_model, been_jumped DESC, print_time_seconds ASC, position
- Mark jumped items in-memory after each print start
- Toggle badge on queue page header with live state indicator
- Frontend auto-sorts to match scheduler order when SJF enabled
- Settings schema, boolean parsing, and migration (SQLite + PostgreSQL)
- i18n badge keys for all 7 locales
- 10 integration tests for SJF ordering and starvation logic
- Wiki, website, README, and changelog updated
Queue endpoints now return filament_type, filament_color, layer_height,
nozzle_diameter, and sliced_for_model from the archive or library file.
Previously this data was only available via the archive API.
When scheduling a print to "any printer" (model-based assignment),
users can now override the 3MF's original filament choices per slot.
The override dropdown shows compatible filaments loaded across all
printers of the selected model, filtered by type and nozzle (H2D).
The scheduler matches against overridden type/color instead of the
original 3MF values, preferring printers with exact color matches.
Backend:
- New GET /printers/available-filaments endpoint (aggregates loaded
filaments across printers of a model, includes extruder_id for
dual-nozzle nozzle-aware filtering)
- New filament_overrides JSON column on print_queue table
- Scheduler applies overrides before AMS mapping, clears tray_info_idx
on overridden slots so color matching takes priority
- Printer selection prefers printers with most override color matches
Frontend:
- New FilamentOverride component with per-slot override dropdowns
- Type-filtered options (PLA slots only show PLA)
- Nozzle-aware filtering (H2D: only shows filaments on correct extruder)
- Integrated into PrintModal for model-based queue mode
Tests:
- 11 backend unit tests (color match counting, override application)
- 12 frontend tests (rendering, type/nozzle filtering, interactions)
i18n: All 6 locales (en, de, fr, it, ja, pt-BR)
Features:
- Add location filter for "Any {Model}" queue assignments
- Queue items can target a specific location (e.g., "Any X1C in Workshop")
- Location dropdown filter on Queue page to view jobs by location
- Scheduler considers location when assigning model-based jobs
Closes#220
Track and display who performs key actions in Bambuddy:
- Archives: who uploaded each archive file
- Library: who uploaded each file in File Manager
- Queue: who added each print job to the queue
- Printers: who started the current print (reprint tracking)
Backend changes:
- Add created_by_id column to print_archives, library_files, print_queue tables
- Add database migrations for new columns (auto-run on startup)
- Update archive, library, and queue routes to capture current user
- Add current-print-user endpoint for printer reprint tracking
- Track reprint user in PrinterManager in-memory state
- Fix file uploads not sending auth headers (FormData requires explicit headers)
Frontend changes:
- Display username on archive cards, library files, queue items
- Show "Started by" on printer cards during active prints
- Add auth headers to all 12 FormData upload functions
- Update TypeScript types for user tracking fields
Tests:
- Add unit tests for PrinterManager user tracking methods (7 tests)
- Add integration tests for current-print-user endpoint (3 tests)
- Add integration tests for library file user tracking (3 tests)
Works when authentication is enabled; gracefully hidden when disabled.
Closes#206
Model-based queue assignment:
- Extract printer_model from sliced 3MF files during upload
- Display sliced-for model in archive view
- New queue mode: assign to "Any [Model]" instead of specific printer
- Scheduler auto-assigns to first idle printer of matching model
- Filament validation: only assign to printers with required filament types loaded
- Waiting reason display shows why jobs are waiting (e.g., "Waiting for filament: Printer1 (needs PLA)")
- "Waiting" status badge (purple) distinguishes from regular "Pending"
Queue notifications (7 new events):
- Job Added: When a job is added to queue
- Job Assigned: When a model-based job is assigned to a printer
- Job Started: When a queue job starts printing
- Job Waiting: When a job is waiting for filament (enabled by default)
- Job Skipped: When a job is skipped due to previous failure (enabled by default)
- Job Failed: When a job fails to start (enabled by default)
- Queue Complete: When all queued jobs finish
Backend changes:
- New columns: print_queue.target_model, print_queue.required_filament_types, print_queue.waiting_reason
- New columns: notification_providers.on_queue_job_* (7 event triggers)
- Notification templates for all queue events
- Scheduler validates filament compatibility before model-based assignment
- Queue API extracts filament types from 3MF when adding model-based items
- Local backup/restore includes queue notification settings
Frontend changes:
- TypeScript interfaces updated for new fields
- Queue page shows waiting reason and "Waiting" badge

Closes#162
New Features:
- Queue bulk edit: Select multiple pending items and edit printer
assignment, print options, or cancel them at once (Issue #159)
- Tri-state toggles (unchanged/on/off) for selective field updates
Fixes:
- Progress milestone notifications showed wrong time (e.g., "17m" instead
of "17h 47m") - fixed by converting remaining_time from minutes to
seconds (Issue #157)
- File Manager folder names now show full name on hover tooltip (Issue #160)
Backend:
- Added PATCH /queue/bulk endpoint for bulk updates
- Route ordering fixed to prevent /bulk matching as /{item_id}
Frontend:
- Added checkbox selection to pending queue items
- Added bulk action toolbar with Select All, Edit Selected, Cancel Selected
- Created BulkEditModal with tri-state toggles for each setting
Tests:
- Added 7 integration tests for bulk update endpoint
Closes#159
- Print from File Manager with plate selection, AMS mapping, and print options. Closes#94
- Add to queue without creating archive (reduces clutter)
- Queue displays library file name, thumbnail, and print time
Fixes:
Queue items from File Manager now reference library files directly instead of
creating archives upfront. Archives are created automatically when prints start.
